(5) Review of the book 1-5 stars

I would rate my KBAR book Harry potter and the chamber of secrets 4.5/5 stars because, the characters have really good character development and at the end of the book sets up a really good build up for the next book. Also the plot in this book alone goes super in depth about voldemort and his backstory. Another thing I like about this book is that there are a lot of new settings introduced which i think added a lot more to the story. We also meet a lot more characters like Ron's family, Dobby, and Tom riddle. The reason I took 0.5 points off is because with such an in depth story it can be confusing so a couple of times i had to go back and reread to try and understand.

(10) What is a character's decisions that you disagree with?

A decision i disagreed with was when Harry was talking with Tom Riddle through riddle's diary and when Tom was showing his "memories" to Harry. Harry ended up believing Riddle instead of his friends. I disagree with that decision because in his "memories" it showed harry's friend opening the chamber of secrets 50 years ago. Which ended up being a lie and harry believed this lie until he actually fraught Tom riddle in the chamber of secrets. I feel like if i was in harry's position i would have believed my friend because 1) I trust my friend 2) because i just met Tom riddle. So i feel like even through harry saw the lie i would still be suspicious of the them because it's the wizarding world anything can be manipulated.

(2) Describe a main character using 5 adjectives.

The main character in my book is Harry potter. The 5 adjectives I would describe him as is brave, polite, courageous, determined, and friendly. The reason i would describe him like this is because he shows his bravely by still going to hogwarts he thought he was told not too. He shows he is determined by fighting Tom Riddle in the chamber of secrets. He shows he's polite and friendly by always being there for his peers and helping them out. And finally he shows his courageousness by never giving up and standing up for what he thinks is right.

The two characters that I will compare are Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
Ron Weasley- (differences) Ron's personality is very fun and light he's like the character there for comedy due to that fact his character is portrayed as dumb and no one really takes him seriously. He also has a large family so he also have a lot of hand-me downs + he's a pureblood.
Hermione Granger- (differences) Hermione is the smart one she is there to help harry and ron find their way because the both of them aren't the smartest. Her character is portrayed as strong and intelligent. Hermione is an only child and had muggle parents, meaning she is a target for hateful comments and slurs. Because in the wizarding world people look down on thoses who have muggle parents.
Ron & Hermione- (simularies) Ron and hermione are both harry's friend and continue to help and hang out with him no matter what. Even though they have completely different personalities they do go well together, and they are each other's love interest. ;)

My favorite part in Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets was when harry visited the weasleys for the very first time. Now i have seen the movie and they do an okay job of going over it. But in the book It was described wonderfully and i could imagine it so clearly. Also we get to meet a ton of new characters and we learn about things about the wizarding world. This part of the novel also has a good transition into another sense which is really nice. There is also a lot of funny lines in this part of the book.

(4) Who has power in your book?

I think the person who has the most power in this book is Tom Riddle. I say this because even though he was defeated it was only because harry got help from dumbledore. And harry believed every word that Tom said so if harry didn't get help he would've died. Also Tom riddle who is voldemort was still recovering from when he was stopped by lily potter. So in this book i would say it's Tom Riddle but harry was only like 12 years old at the time so when harry is older he will eventually be stronger.

(1) If you were to change one thing about the novel, what would it be? Why?

If i could change anything about my KBAR book it would be that they spend less time trying to figure out who opened the chamber of secrets. Yes, it was interesting to watch them try to figure out who it was but it got kinda confusing near the end. I mean I figured out that Tom Riddle wasn't a very good person pretty fast because he propsuley targeted hagrid to blame the opening of the chamber of secrets. Like how did Tom riddle know harry was friends with hagrid or even know who he is. Just a lot of the things harry believes until he knew the truth was sketchy as they were. So it was just kinda hard to believe the kid who defeated the dark lord when he was an infant would have so much trust in a stranger.

(19) Create a playlist on your protagonist’s phone and include 5 songs on it.

So the main protagonist in this story is harry potter. So the name of his playlist would probably be something like: Music from the non-wizarding world :) And the songs I think he would have on his playlists are: "I Am a wizard" by harry and the potters because I feel like he could relate heavily to the song ;). "Magical World" by Ian McCulloch because I can just image harry's personality and i think this song fits perfectly with him. "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" by The Smiths because this one is a bit more sad but i feel like he can "relate" because in the song they are talking about how they feel like nobody loves them and they dream about if someone did. "Living a Boy's Adventure Tale" by a-ha now i picked this one because again it just kinda fits the aesthetic harry has about him. "Friend or Foe" by Adam Ant I picked this last one because it kinda fits his relationship with Tom Riddle in this book because harry thought Tom was helping him out but later on he actually had to fight him.

Three novels i would recommend if you liked this book are probably the next 3 books are the first harry potter book and the two that come after the second. Because it will add more and more to the story when you read more and more into the book series. The first book explains everything the third book goes into a little more background about harry's family + its my favorite harry potter book. And the fourth one is a bit darker then the other ones but it is also very important. (Books): "Harry potter and the sorcerer's stone.", "Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban.", and "Harry Potter and the goblet of fire." all by J.K. Rowling.

The character in my book i feel like didn't have much of a voice even though he is in there is Neville Longbottom. He was introduced in the first book but he doesn't really get any character development until the fourth book. If I could give him a bigger part in this book I would make him be apart of helping harry, ron, and hermione figure out who opened the chamber of secrets. Also I would have wished Ginny Weasley got a bigger part sense she played a big part in this book. But sadly she also doesn't really get any character development until like 4-5th book.

Something in this novel that i think most teens can relate to is how easily rumors can start in a school. You see once everyone knew that the chamber of secrets was opened somewhere in hogwarts they knew that only the heir of slytherin could open it. And in a sparing battle between Draco and Harry, Draco casts and spell where are snake appears. The snakes starts to target a student in the crowd but harry talks to the snake to tell it not too. But harry and the snake can only understand the language to everyone else it looked like harry was telling the snake to go after the student. So a rumor goes around the school that harry is the heir of slytherin because the founder of the slytherin house could also speak to snakes. For this reason a lot of people were scared of harry because they thought he opened the chamber of secrets.
