- Ted is the main character. He is a 12 year old boy who the story of The Lorax is told too. He tries to fix the problem of deforestation and pollution.
- The Once-Ler is the man who is telling the story (to Ted) of how everything went downhill and failed with the Lorax. 
- The Lorax is the protector of the trees he tried to stop the Once-Ler from destroying the environment but he couldn't. 
- Audrey is the girl Ted is interested in and tries to impress. 
- Lastly, O'hare is the "president" of Thneedville and creates an entirely new way of society. Some are pollution, deforestation, and endangered animals. The main issue is deforestation becauses the movie focuses on it the most. They show this by the sky getting more grey and foggy (polluted). The overall vibe gets gloomy. The more and more trees that are being cut down, the less oxygen being released. The trees are not undergoing photosynthesis which makes the trees produce oxygen. It affects a lot of things in the environment like the animals and humans.The animals are losing there homes and the amount of fresh oxygen they are receiving. They are forced out of their home. Everyone is equally affected from this problem and it does not change until the very end of the movie.
