Pierre Bourdieu discusses three forms of capital
•Economic capital:
–Financial wealth being assets and income
•Cultural capital: 
–possession of non economic or symbolically valued resources (education, intellect, style, taste)
•Social capital:
–Network of personal relationships that an individual builds up
•Social capital acts to amplify the efficiency of both cultural and economic capital
•Those with high cultural capital typically determine ‘taste’ within a society leaving those with low cultural capital in a position where they have to define their own taste and identity in relation to the dominant aesthetic.
