All children is different and I've learned while doing my TP that the learners behavior depends on the registered teacher. If the foundation is laid right in the first place students will be more respectfull at all times.
Also that the department can not take responsibility for the students behavior on school the school and parents of the learners should come up with solutions regarding children's behaviors and discipline them.

Where do we draw the line? Through my teaching prac time, I did a lot of observing with the learner-teacher interaction and it made me question quite a number of things. You as a teacher your role comprises of a hybrid of things, to the learners you're a teacher, a mentor, an example and sometimes even a parent. But the first thing is being a teacher and when you are having a lesson you expect learners to behave in a certain manner that is respectful, that is disciplined, that shows eagerness to learn. Yes learners will challenge your authority now and then, however, what happens when a learner/ a group of learners is misbehaving, being disruptive, are giving you stinky attitudes, back chatting and making it difficult to teach. The first thing is to reprimand them and give them continuous warnings and thereafter, chuck them out of the class. The last resort is taking them to the principal's office. What I noticed from the school I was doing my teaching prac at, is that with some of these learners you might to what I've pointed out as a way of disciplining them but they are so used to such that they don't care, they know they'll be punished and come back to class again, and still continue to be disruptive. It is said also learners are not allowed to be chucked out of the class for example, and you're supposed to just let them be. But what happens when the child is under performing due to their behaviour? As the teacher you are required to either boost their marks or make them rewrite and you as the teacher is questioned why learners are performing poorly. There's only so much you can do as a teacher.
