Moldovanova, and Frederickson (2014) discuss the importance of balancing “three pillars of sustainability” which are the environment, social and economic pressures. The authors advocate internalize interiorizing (look this word up in a dictionary)  the obligations of present generations to for future generations for to achieve intergenerational fairness and a sustainable world. They mention two definitions related to sustainability which focuses on understand the needs of the present as well as to take action to create a better world for future generations. Supporting this, they provide an example from an article stating “natural resources are a common heritage of mankind” (Asheim, Buchholz,& Tungodden, 1999) rather than the example itself, state what do the authors highlight with this example .Following this, they highlight two different models of economic sustainability which argues governmental and private ownership’s authority. They also claim that to become socially sustainable, humans have to preserve a healthy community while resting on the limited sources which contradict “the tragedy of the commons”. The theory mentions that due to the self-interested behavior of individuals, scarcity of resources occur. The authors conclude by stressing that that humanity is ignorant of the upcoming future which opposes the idea of sustainability and suggests that people should “seek to adopt and implement policies that support intergenerational fairness.” make sure you express the ideas in your own words.

All the authors agree on the fact that current generation has some responsibilities over the next generation. Current generation needs to fulfill these tasks to  achieve intergenerational fairness. The term Intergenerational fairness is self pretty Self-explanitory it indicates all generations have the right to enjoy the resources and beauties of the world. The only way for this to happen is up to current generation.They should strive for a better world leave it as how they found it if not even better (avoid repetitions). The importance of sustainability is a relevant topic since ancient times.2500 years ago Athenians had an oath that mentions leaving the world as how they found it. Authors indicate that the only way to provide social sustainability is to have a healthy community. Stazyk et al. (2014) Alisa Moldovanova and H. George Frederickson, the authors try to explain thoroughly, what sustainability is as a concept and its close relation with intergenerational equity and fairness. Firstly they describe the term ‘sustainability’ citing the official definition by Brundtland Commission, which simply explains it as developing and maintaining the current balance without neglecting the negative outcomes of this development, that may affect on generations to come. The authors suggest that without sustainability, which includes economical, environmental and social aspects, although it seems only to be about the nature these days, we can not expect our future to be ensured. Following up the authors give us a rough background and history of the term ‘’sustainability’’, whose core values were apparently already embraced in Ancient Greek 2,500 years ago. According to the article, back then the concept of sustainability was considered as a form of intergenerational fairness, rather than mere environmental management, which is what the term is generally treated as today. Further exploring this aspect of the concept, the authors mention that all generations inherently have certain responsibilities to generations after them, ensuring equity amongst people born in different time periods. The authors go on to analyse intergenerational fairness under three different aspects mentioned earlier, namely economical, social and environmental. They argue that every human-being, regardless their age and location, should be able to utilize the natural resources equally and as needed. Similarly, everyone should have access to decent health care and educational opportunities. As for economical sustainability, the authors put forward two different ideas on how to regulate the government of natural resources by the government. One of them suggests private ownership (Braetland, 2006)(at freshman level summaries, we simply refer to them by using generic expressions like one model, one approach) and the other finds it more logical to give the full authority of these valuable resources to governments. The authors subsequently introduce a theory called the ‘’tragedy of the commons’’, which essentially highlights the importance of collaboration in context of environmental problems and exhaustion of natural resources. In conclusion, they mention (make sure you use a reporting verb that reflects author's attitude much better) our ignorance and negliegence as all human beings towards our future and urge us to find and implement proper policies that improve our condition while regarding the future generations and supporting sustainability.
