         <title>Muhammad Week 6:  Argument Writing assignment - Option 2 Purpose of Instruction: What am I going to teach?  Why is this important for my students to learn?  I am going to teach on the idea of “Tolerance In A Democratic Society.”  The importance of this lesson is to develop in students an understanding that no one’s civil rights/liberties should be infringed upon because you (the student) may disagree.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Tips on Using Draw-Label-Caption - Draw the Pumpkin!<br>Cause - Effect "Get rid of Cable"<br>Problem Solution: Boyan Slat Ted Talk&nbsp; (Also CNN)<br>Sequence - Pumpkin <br>Compare / Contrast - Green Acres<br></strong>I find that sometimes just having so many choices of graphic organizers can get confusing for students.&nbsp; My other challenge is the level of my students and their writing abilities.&nbsp; <br>My student are hard working and they really do want to learn, but sometime they don't understand the process. Case in point is I have had some students complete an essay and once it looks good to them and they will not write another one in class<br><br>Have students start writing the first day. Something about themselves, about their goals. That give me a pretty good idea of where to start.<br><br>The manipulative <strong>(origami) </strong>that I share is my version of an alternate format for both graphic organizer and scaffolding tool for explanatory writing essay&nbsp;<br><br>Sentence Combining ... pair students by strength as much as I did student enthusiasm to work together (yes, I did monitor for genuine enthusiasm; not just a talking buddy).&nbsp; Students learn from one another for sure if provided direction and resources</div>]]></description>
