I'm Ana Luiza Freitas, one of the leading organizers of the conference. I'm an applied linguist and work as an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre (UFCSPA). I’m Luciane Sturm, an applied linguist and full professor at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF) - www.upf.br, a community institution in northern Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. I also coordinate the International Relations Office at UPF. My research interests include the role of languages in social transformation, particularly in the context of Education for Global Citizenship, linguistic rights and citizenship of language, EMI, and contemporary teaching approaches.
