         <description><![CDATA[<div>My biggest concern with technology would be a lack of understanding for my students. When I interned in a first grade classroom last year, the students would ask a lot of questions about software that they used daily. This would overwhelm their teacher. <strong>How can I ensure that my students will understand technology and classroom software enough to work independently without teacher assistance?</strong></div>]]></description>

You could also test it out on a child of yours, yourself, if you have one. That way, you could see whether or not your own students would understand in the classroom. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I don't think you can ever be 100% sure about anything when it comes to technology. I think the best thing to do is to trust your students and allow them time to get used to it. Not everyone understands things right away the first time. You as the teacher also have to have a lot of patience if you want your students to feel encouraged to succeed. It's normal for kids to ask a lot of questions and it is usually very helpful when they do. When they are asking questions, they are communicating to you what they do not understand. Like what someone else posted here, it's important to familiarize yourself with the technology before springing it upon your students so that you do not get overwhelmed when they do ask questions.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think one way that might help them understand the technology is to guide them through it before you have them use it on their own. Giving them a little crash course on the features and how they can use the software and programs can help them use them independently so that they do not always require assistance. You can remind them occasionally if it has been a while since you have used them, but after you have explained and showed them how to work the programs, you just have to trust that they know how to do it and let them show you what they need help with. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think that technology in the classroom is good if you know how to use it. Teachers shouldn't use something they don't know how to use. They need to also be able to teach without technology. I enjoy learning from a textbook every once in a while so I think there should be a good balance between those in the classroom. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hi! I think before you use it in the classroom that you must first understand how to use it yourself. Once you have mastered the tool, I think it would be useful to teach the students also how to use the tool before utilizing it for an assignment.&nbsp;They must first understand how to use it before performing a task on it. Another thing to also keep in mind is how well your students are getting it. If it's too difficult for the students to get, it may be helpful to try a different tool. But I would recommend taking the time to teach the students how the tool works. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As a teacher it is our job to ensure students feel comfortable with moving forward on any topic or lesson. Just as when we teach math or language arts, the solution to this is to set aside time just to review technology and softwares. Granted, technology fails us and when stuff messes up all we can do is roll with the punches. But, in this case, you need to set aside time to review and make sure all students are comfortable with the software(s) you will be using day to day, and ween them off of your help and guide them to independence. After you teach them what to do, with the occasional assistance, you have to trust they can figure their online work and tasks by themselves. As long as you don't do everything for them, and guide when needed, it should not be an issue with the majority. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think that technology is almost necessary in a classroom during our day and age. They need to learn how to navigate through technology to be able to have any job in the future. I do agree with the other students that I think that you have to understand technology yourself first before you can implement it into your classroom. Technology is something that without proper instruction and specific directions, it can get out of hand quickly. To ensure that your students understand it enough to work alone, I think you will have to take it in baby steps. Start with giving them some free reign on going to simple websites or projects and then slowly add more to it as they become more familiar with the rules and how to navigate. I think that slowly adding small independence will allow them grasp how to handle technology on their own. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think technology can be very beneficial in the younger ages, they are less likely to take advantage of it. As long as you show your students that you are comfortable using the technology and provide adequate resources for them to understand it, I think they would benefit greatly from it. I can imagine it could be difficult trying to maintain order while students are on computers because it is hard to monitor everyone all the time, but I think creating expectations and regulations from the start will help maintain order within the classroom while using technology. </div>]]></description>

Spending a few minutes at the beginning of the class or lesson to teach students the technology would lessen the amount of students who do not know how to use the software. Having a time to answer questions they may have while teaching them the basics of the software would help their knowledge. </div>]]></description>

Also, when introducing new technology to students, at first it would be hard for them to understand it but I believe with some teacher assistance at the introduction of the technology in the classroom and with time letting them get used to the technology is when you could see results with independence from the students.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think there are a few different ways to make sure your students understand the technology software they are presented with. The first idea I would use is to fully prepare your students by explaining each platform in depth and having them practice together as a class before letting them work on their own. Another idea that I think would be helpful is having them work in groups so that they will try to help each other before coming to you with questions that way you know it is a whole classroom misunderstanding. This way you could teach the uses of the platform again to the whole class again if you have time. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>All students learn differently, some are better at things than others. I think an issue that could prevent students from learning how to use technology is the overuse of other students help. To prevent students from not having this skill it is important to allow students the time it takes to get themselves where they need to be. Not saying students should slack off but as a teacher be mindful that some students might take longer than others. Limiting the help of students could also help, let students be taught but then force the students to have to learn the task not just rely on a friend.</div>]]></description>

You could also give the students links to the demonstrations so the students could always have access to them when needed help with anything. if they still need help after that then they can ask a fellow classmate or then ask the teacher for assistance. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Before throwing students onto a chromebook, they should be aware and familiar with what they are doing. I would encourage them to take a year of computer lab before trying to work a chrombook on their own. Taking the effort and time to teach the students how to work a chrome book, the right way, will save them in the long run. </div>]]></description>
