Chaos and Order

"If you don't want to sink you better figure out how to swim"
This image and quote is an example of Chaos and Order because for any normal parent they would not be throwing their child in any sort of pool or lake or whatever it may be due to the fact that its just absurd and very chaotic especially if they don't know how to swim. But in a certain perspective you can understand why Rex was doing that not only to teach Jeannette to swim but to also help her understand that she's capable of doing many things she just has to believe she can and she will. Also Rex knew if Jeannette was really drowning he would help her without a doubt in his mind. The image shows she's struggling but she is still able to keep her head above water so she doesn't drown just like Jeannette was trying to do.

Fantasy vs Reality

“Those shining stars, he liked to point out, were one of the special treats for people like us who lived out in the wilderness. Rich city folks, he'd say, lived in fancy apartments, but their air was so polluted they couldn't even see the stars. We'd have to be out of our minds to want to trade places with any of them.”
This quote gives you an example just on how Rex was always basically saying that living in the woods and not having a "home" is way better than living in a city. He always had his fantasy that the city was bad and nothing good is there when in reality he was just leaving cities due to the fact that he was being chased from the police even thee mafia. And he was never able to maintain a job he was always getting fired and always talking about his dream of building a glass castle but never even bothered to even make sure his children had food on the table.
This image shows a man whos tired so he's dreaming of good things as shown in the image. This relates to Rex and his fantasy which in reality was just all a dream he had of one day being able to make but when he woke up reality was there and he was no where even close of completing that dream of his

“I could not imagine what my life would be like- without him in it. As awful as he could be, I always knew he loved me in a way no one else ever had.”
This quotes goes along with the theme of forgiveness because Jeannette is saying at the end of her story that she forgives her dad for everything that he has done such as when he took the money her Lori and Brian had saved up for the trip to New York. There's plenty of other examples but this was a big one. This image shows the relationship Jeannette had with her father Rex after that incident she was really mad at him but she loved him to much and always forgave him.

“As awful as he could be, I always knew he loved me in a way no one else ever had"
This quote goes along with the theme "Unconditional Love" because it shows how much Jeannette loved her father and no matter what he did or what they went through she always had a soft sot for him. Such as when He was asking her for money and Jeannette knew she was on a tight budget she would make sacrifices of her own and give him money. This image shows a sad girl with her father somewhat familiar to what Jeannette felt because although she was sad at times or even mad at her father she was always supporting him through everything.

“ I didn’t feel like celebrating. After all he put himself through, I couldn’t believe

Dad had gone back to the booze.”
This quote Relates to the theme broken promises because Jeannette really thought her father was finally changing for the better and he even said he was not going to drink anymore so when she found he was going to move back with mom he started drinking again and basically threw his life away again
This image represents a promise just like the the ones Rex made to Jeannette just that Rex never kept his he always broke them such as when he said he was going to stop drinking.

“I lived in a world that at any moment could erupt into fire. It was the sort of knowledge that kept you on your toes.”
This quote represents the theme of Non-conformity because Jeannette was never comfortable in the world she lived due to the fact she knew her life can change with a blink of an eye such as them having to move outa no where or not having food on the table and also dealing with he parents who are not responsible enough in my opinion to be parents .
I chose this image because at times I know Jeannette wishes she could just not hear what her parents have to say especially when it comes to why there is no money to buy food or when her dad asks her for favors such as going to the bar with him.
