This is my girlfriend, Kamryn; we met in February. The topic of intersectionality relates to us due to the various differences in our backgrounds. Kamryn and I both have different racial backgrounds; I am Indian, and she is Caucasian. She comes from a very different socioeconomic background from mine as well. I am from a come from a middle upperclass one from a very wealthy area. The area was great academically and had a significant amount of diversity. She comes from a lower-income area. The demographic was also similar all around, as it was a small town. We both have very different backgrounds and experiences, and they intersect to create a hollisitic identity. We both have unique identities created by intersecting experiences. Our relationship is made up of two completely different identities that attest to how vast the concept of intersectionality is.

This is a photo from my grandmother's college class in Pakistan. As you can see, she is the only woman in her class. Her father emphasized the importance of education in the family and made sure all of his daughters went to college. As shown In the article, Johnson (2014) Patriarchy, the system, manifests itself in all aspects of life. In my grandmother's situation, it is present. She was the only woman who was part of that college. Her and her father stood up to the patriarchy by ensuring his daughters went to school, one that was dominated by men. I am extremely proud to say that the women in my family are so powerful.

This is my older sister, Alia Ahmed. She went to Purdue and studied electrical and computer engineering. She loves to call herself a "STEM girlie." Her love for coding started in high school when she participated in the Girls Who Code program. She was also part of an institutionalized patriarchy; there is a very prevalent one in the STEM scene. My sister's classes and workspaces are dominated by men. She is very smart, and she has been determined to succeed in her field. I look up to her, as she faces relatable barriers to me. I am a racial minority in baseball, and I have faced barriers that require me to work very hard in order to succeed. She has been faced with very similar barriers throughout her career.

This is my roommate, Leilani Juan. She has played an instrumental role in helping me find my true self. I have been struggling with my sexuality when it comes to figuring out who I am attracted to, and it is an ongoing journey. She is fairly informed and is part of the LGBTQ+ community. Through many conversations, I have come to learn that I am a heteroflexible individual. Although I am still unsure at times, learning about my sexuality through the readings has played an instrumental role in my journey. The modules regarding sexuality have enlightened me and helped me learn so many new things.

This is my grandmother on my father's side. She has a Masters in Education from UC Berkeley. In 1957, she earned this degree while taking care of her newborn. She was able to be a successful woman in education while taking care of a newborn. This is very impressive, as she was faced with the various barriers of being a woman in the institutionalized path that was education at that point in time. Once again, I am extremely impressed by the women in my family. They are my role models.
