I chose this picture because crops like these are essential to our society. We as a society consume crops like these daily. To better improve crop production we have studied the effects of crop rotating to ensure the soil's nutrients are not depleted by rotating different crops each season. In doing so, we help protect the environment while also improving food production which benefits our society.

I chose this animated video because it did a really good job of summarizing photosynthesis in a short amount of time. This video breaks down each stage step by step and hits all of the important information. The video also broke down the chemical equation of photosynthesis making it easier to understand.

Because people figured out ways to produce their own food, they no longer needed to migrate. They began to settle and they realized that living near a water source was better for growing their food. Therefore, they built their cities near rivers and other bodies of water. These early cities flourished and soon the populations grew with the new surplus of food.

During the 3rd agricultural revolution, they developed steam powered tractors. These tractors sped up the harvesting process by being faster than doing it by hand or by horse. These tractors also did multiple steps in a single pass versus having to do each step separately. I chose this picture because it was one of the first steam powered plows that helped kick off further improvements of the steam plows.

I chose the chemical caffeine, which derives from the many different plant sources. Most commonly known from coffee beans or tea leaves. It is a stimulant that affects your brain and nervous system.I chose caffeine because almost every person in this world has some form of addiction to caffeine. It is found in almost all sodas, teas, coffees, energy drinks, etc.

If we as a whole do not practice sustainability, then our quality of life will drastically decline. It will affect everything, our ability to grow food to survive, our resources will be all used up like fresh water and oil if we don't learn to use them in moderation or find alternatives. I choose this picture because it shows the drastic difference between quality of life. The top shows the "green" sustainable life versus the bottom showing the dirty, unsuitable planet without sustainability.
