The Northeast region of the United States is the location of many of the historical sites of the Revolutionary War. This area has been the site of much of the migration from Europe, and cities like New York became the origin of the "melting pot" attitude towards immigration that exists today.

The Eastern United States was one of the first areas occupied, and it is rich in many natural resources, one of which is timer. An abundance of Timber helped early settlers build houses and was a source of fuel for fires and other thing like military forts. Today, timber is used in buildings and general construction everywhere in the US. Additionally, the forests of the eastern US offer great opportunities for tourism.

Construction Minerals

Mineral deposits are everywhere in the United States, but rather than rare metals, the eastern United States has as large abundance of minerals used in building such as marble and granite. Granite is used for many things, buildings and countertops are two of the most common examples. Additionally, marble is a material used in high-quality building and for artwork all around the world. The eastern US is a large supplier of both of these materials.

Coal

The Appalachian mountains dominate much of the northeastern United States region. These mountains are the oldest mountain range in the entire world, and as such have many vast coal deposits. Coal deposits have been mined since the early 1800's for use on steamboats, steam engines, and machines in factories. Coal played a vital part in the early industrial revolution, well into the 20th century as we found other ways to generate power and electricity.

Seafood

The Northeastern United States has some of the most diverse seafood in the country. For centuries, people have spent their lives capturing fish and many other seafoods along the coast. This part of the nation is known for things like its crab, lobster, scallops, fish, and many other culinary dishes. As the climate change continues to take hold of the world, this industry and natural resource will be depleted, as we are already seeing shrinking harvests each year.
