All About The Teacher

Hello, my name is Jessica Muldrow, and I am so thrilled about being your child's 1st Grade teacher. It is going to be a fun year of learning, fun, and adventures. I cannot wait to meet you and learn more bout you and your child but let me tell you a little about me.

I was born in Johnston, South Carolina. I graduated from Aiken Technical College where I received my Associated Degree in Early Childhood Development in 2013. I have two daughters: Bryanna (12) and Taylor (6). I am very passionate about teaching and cannot wait to enjoy teaching and learning with your child. In my free time, I enjoy crafting with my daughters, reading a good book and being with family and friends. It is so important to keep communication open and I would love to talk to you whenever you feel there is a need. I am looking forward to the great year together.

My Favorites:

Color: Blue
Movie: Love and Basket

Hobby: Crafting
Food: wings, seafood, & pasta

Candy: Almond Joy
Place to visit: Charleston, SC

Drink: Dr. Pepper
Quote: Delayed but never denied!

Educational Philosophy

I believe that the goal of early childhood education is to support and advance children’s development by providing them with developmentally appropriate environment and materials that relate to real-life experiences. By observing children through play or in their natural environment, so that a teacher can get a greater understanding of what the children knows. I believe the purpose of early childhood education is to guarantee children with a foundation of social and emotional, cognitive, and physical developments. It is to help expand their learning by giving the children materials to explore and that is based on real-life experiences.

Tell the child to say the word and spell it.

2. Reading Challenge: Parents and child can read a story every night and log the book they read together on a log sheet.

3. Rainbow Fact Families: This activity allows families to help children with their math skills. (template is provided for families).

How to play rainbow fact families

Children choose 1 of the rainbow numbers and places it in the space at the bottom of the game board.

This will be the fact family they will be using for the game.

Place their counters on start.

The first player rolls a die and moves that number of spaces.

They read the number on that space then decide how many more they need to reach the fact family number. For eg, if the fact family number is 10 and they land on a 3, the answer is 7.

Children take it in turns to work their way around the rainbow game board, following the directions on the arrows till they land on ‘you did it!’
