Victoria Ash - How Berlin reflected two of the Gifts of Christ through this song:

The first gift Berlin reflected through this song was striving to see BEAUTY in all of God’s creations. In Blue Skies Berlin mentions the bluebirds “singing a song” and the sun “smiling at him” and appreciates them. Describing these objects of nature in this way shows how Berlin loves God’s creations and sees the beauty within them.
The second gift Berlin reflected through this song was Promoting AFFABILITY by building bonds and learning from others. Berlin reflected this gift by talking about how things are going “so right” in his life and how in love he is. He is demonstrating a good-natured manner and friendliness by speaking about how the days just fly by when he is in love with someone.

Antonio Santos- How did the song reflect/influence the 1920s

“Blue Skies” by Irving Berlin
This song is part of the “Jazz Age”, which is the time including the 1920s where jazz music was very popular. The style of this time was very upbeat which Irving Berlin captured perfectly in this song about blue skies. The song influenced the 20s because it has a carefree, loving feel to it which was extremely popular. At this time Americans were changing and urbanizing everywhere and this song reflects that.
