While most people don't like to believe they are privileged, the vast majority of us are extremely privileged, simply because we are pursuing a higher education. A professor at Purdue has recently spoken out about how this effects students who are not white or male, or usually both. The article sheds some well needed light onto the subject of how colleges can be different for different people.

While at college or in the professional work place, you begin to understand how much privilege has effected how you got where you have. The Privilege Walk is an amazing visual demonstration of this.

Through really understanding what privilege means, I have come to understand how much privilege I have. I was born into a well-off white family, I never had to worry about if I would be able to have food or a place to sleep. College was never a discussion, just something I always knew I would be attending. This article, written by a boy who attended college, really helped me understand how drastic the gap is. It was an interesting article because it was from someone who was given everything and still sees the privilege they are given just from the family that they were born into.

Understand Privilege and Oppression

The article attached I have attached was an interesting read, while I do not agree with everything stated, I do think the author explained very well how privilege and oppression are related and where the intersectionality of it all is. As the article goes on, I believe there are more things privileged people can do to bridge the gap and make a difference. The word guilty may seem touchy because most people can't change the things that give them privilege but they can chose to help by using their privilege for the greater good.
