The Hidden Genius Project, a national nonprofit organization, was founded in Oakland in 2012 by five Black male entrepreneurs/technologists who were unnerved by the dramatic juxtaposition between the high unemployment of Black male youth and the plethora of career opportunities within the local technology sector. To address this challenge, the founders established a program to connect young Black males with the skills, mentors, and experiences that they need to become high-performing entrepreneurs and technologists in a 21st century, global economy.

What is HSEP?

Our High School Engineering Program (HSEP) is designed to be an interactive, educational experience that shows you what a future in engineering has to offer. In the span of our 10-week program, you will gain an understanding in various fields of engineering, design and build an impactful technical project, and work closely in a team driven environment of 4+ students and a mentor. This program is intended for high school students who identify as female and/or non-binary. No experience is necessary! We encourage students from all backgrounds to apply!

Dates: Weekly on Saturdays from 2/10 to 4/27. (There will be no session on 2/17 or 3/23)

Time: 9am-12pm

Location: UC Berkeley Campus*

What is LDC?

The American Red Cross Northern California Coastal Region is hosting our annual Leadership Development Center (LDC). Aimed at students ages 13-18 years old, LDC is an in-person summer camp where youth learn about the Red Cross mission & how they can be involved in serving their communities, valuable professional development skills, and plenty of the fun aspects of going to summer camp! Here is an opportunity for 11th and 12th graders to learn about the FBI. FBI San Francisco is currently accepting applications for its 2024 Spring Teen Academy. Students are provided with presentations on topics including cyber-crime, civil rights, hate crimes, terrorism, criminal matters, intelligence analysis, and evidence collection. Students learn from Special Agents, Intelligence Analysts, and Professional Staff about the day-to-day operations of a typical FBI office.  

The FBI San Francisco Teen Academy will be held at the SAP Center, home of the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, in San Jose, California, on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 8:00am to 5:00pm Participants must be California high school students who are juniors or seniors for the current 2023-2024 school year.
