Geography and climate Spain had great influence on cooking methods and available ingredients. Spanish cuisine derives from a complex history where invasions and conquests of Spain have modified traditions which made new ingredients available. Thus, the current and old cuisine of Spain incorporates old and new traditions.
Breakfast (El Desayuno)
In Spain, breakfast is the smallest meal of the day. A typical breakfast might include coffee, toast with jam or cheese or simply "Maria" crackers dunked in hot milk.
Little Meals (Tapas)
Tapas are eaten well after breakfast but before the big mid-afternoon lunch. They are small plates like canapés or finger food. The Spanish love tapas so much that they made a verb out of it. The phrase "Vamos a tapear!" means “Let’s go eat tapas!” Here are literally hundred of different tapas.
Lunch (La Comida)
The midday meal is definitely a big meal and typically includes multiple courses and wine. Traditionally, Spaniards have a two- to three-hour break from work or school in order to enjoy lunch. They also take a short nap called siesta. Essentially, the entire country closes up shop from about 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Dinner (La Cena)
Dinner is a significantly lighter meal than lunch. It is generally eaten between 9 p.m. and midnight. White rice, topped with tomato sauce and a fried egg. Green salad and a vegetable dish are standart.

Every village, no matter how small, has their own, unique celebrations.

San Fermin & the Running of the Bulls
Probably the most famous festival in Spain, the Running of the Bulls is a long-standing Spanish tradition. The festival is in honor of the beheading (and thus martyring) of Saint Fermin. Starting at 8:00am, huge numbers of brave souls risk their lives to run through the city accompanied by 7 large angry bulls. The goal, incredibly, is to touch as many of the bulls as possible. The festival wraps up with bull fights.

Las Fallas
It involves days of parades, drinking and dancing in the streets, fireworks, and the ceremonial burning of enormous wooden structures.

Semana Santa
Holy Week in Spain is the annual tribute of the Passion of Jesus Christ celebrated by Catholic religious brotherhoods that perform processioncs on the streets of almost every Spanish city and town during the last week of Lent, the week immediately before Easter.

La Tomatina
This is a festival that is held in the Valencian, in which participants throw tomatoes and get involved in a tomato fight purely for entertainment purposes. I also think that spain is a very Beautiful Country!
I find it really interesting what kind of Festivals or Fiestas are celebrated. I learned that in the Festival La Tomatina they People get in a tomato fight, which means theyre throwing it at each other. And i find La Tomatina called really funny. Moreover i find it really dangerous to run with bull and toch them, in top of that you have to fight with a bull. This Festival called San Fermin & the Running of the Bulls. After i read this blog i know that the Kindregarten will be divided into two. Kindergarten and Preschool. The children will be looked after three months and in the Preschool they develop their physikal and mental skills. Morever it´s important to know about the Environment, Road awareness and different culture. that is the preparation for the next School compulsory, after that you can study. I also learnd about the blog that the people almost not eating breakfast and they love Tapas so much that they made a verb of it.
I would work in spain because the Children have a good educational system, the Children are well prepared for the life.

Because I was many times in Spain, but somehow know only a few things About the Country, I chose to learn more About it from your blog.

I enjoyed it how you wrote so much about the food. I love the spanish kitchen, but I don´t understand how someone can have a short breakfast. thank god for the small meals in between. Also the parties you wrote about are interesting to know and I would really like to see them next time. Just the running of the bulls is not for me.

I find it good that working mothers get help from the state when they bring their children to the kindergardens. What I also like is that the Primary Schools take longer than in Germany and the preschools help the children to be ready for their time there.

I would have liked to know how someone could spend their free time in Spain for example the best beaches to got to.

To enjoy Festivals or eat good Food I would for sure travel to Spain. From your blog.

Many regards,
Vanessa

Dear Juline,

i really enjoyed reading your blog! Spain was always a very popular country for me and i also went on a vacation there. On my trips i only saw the toruism attractions, so i'm very happy to read your interesting blog with these lots of new informations for me! I love the spanish food but didn't know that the word "tapas" comes from "vamos a tapaer"! Also i thought it is a food for dinner and not as a little meal between breakfast and lunch, it is very good to know!
Furthermore i love this picture with the tomato festival, it looks very funny! I never heard about it, but i am glad that you mentioned and explained it! Maybe i will enjoy this festival on my next trip, thank you for that insider tip. I've heard about the running of bulls, i think it is a little bit dangerous for the people who joined this attraction and also for the viewer! I would be very careful while i am watching this running. Otherwise i think about the bulls, isn't it a little bit cruelty to animals?
The education system seems to be very similar to the german system. Nursery school for children at the age of 3 month to 3 years old, is in german the U3 area, isn't it? Also the preschool has some things in common with the german kindergarden, but i think, like you say "it is placed on learning" the children have maybe not so much time for for playing. This is a critical point for me in the education system, because children have to play and learn together. Your Chart below is by the way a big help to sum up the education system!
But i think i would never work in spain because for me the country has to many beautiful places and i would always think about siesta!
All in all you had a lot of new information for me about spain, i love all your pictures and you wrote it very understandable!

best regards , Marleen

Dear Juline,

I chose to read your blog because during your presentation you talked a little bit about religion and traditional festivals. Since I never went in for Spain, I did not know anything about these things. So along with the information on education this seemed to be quite interesting for me.

After I read your blog I have learned more about the traditional festivals you mentioned and the ways they celebrate them. I did not even know that they have so many different festivals in Spain! In the text passage about ''Semana Santa'' there was some information about the historical background of the festival which I really enjoyed. I would have loved to read more about the festival's backgrounds but maybe this would have been gone beyond the scope of the blog.

I would have loved to read more about the religious or traditional backgrounds of some traditions you wrote about because I think this would have been very interesting as well. Another thing I wondered was if spanish people have special habits or if their behavior differs from ours. You have already mentioned some habits within your texts – I really loved that and so I wanted to know more about it. :)

While reading your blog I felt like you mainly focused on education which is a pretty good idea because this could be very important for us. And even though this was your main focus you did not forget to give us some information about cultural traditions, cuisine and so on which was nice. Because of that you gave the reader a little overview on what to expect when deciding to move or work in Spain.

Looking at the information on education that you gave us I would be open for working in Spain because their education system seems to be very structured and nice. I might have to take a closer look at their conditions and how they exactly work with children to decide if I would really want to go there for a longer time.

But visiting Spain for some time could be very interesting because of the cultural traditions, cuisine and festivals I really liked while reading your blog.

Kind regards,

Saskia
