Answer 2-3 of the following questions about your own elementary/middle school:
1.How supportive and caring were most of the teachers?
2. Did you feel a sense of safety from violence and bullying?
3. How connected did most students feel to the school?
4. Was your school culturally diverse? If so, did everyone feel welcomed and celebrated?

my school was very diverse. I feel that the school and the community were supportive of the diverse population, and respected the different values associated with religion and culture. I did feel safe at school and our teachers were supportive as well.

Social emotional needs were not much of a concern when I went to school. Some teachers were very strict and not interested much in students' private lives or feelings. Some were more caring. I always felt safe and was not aware of any violence or bullying at school. I feel that the connection came mostly through learning. Students who were motivated to learn and successful felt more connected that students who were falling behind. There was not much support in academics for those who needed it. The diversity came from the social status of the families (ironic in a socialistic system). There was no celebration of diversity.
