He originally comes from Iran but transplanted to Paris.

The types of stories often to do with religion as there is a woman who wants to get married but her fiancé migrated to Germany and left her. A few more of his pictures often relate to religion again as one of his photos is to do with where Muslims believed that Adam met Eve in Saudi Arabia. Then more of his photographs are pictures kid the 'Zion Church' taking new converts to the sea to be baptised at dawn in South Africa 1999. The reason why he took these photographs is because he wanted to create a project to do with the clash of religions, defined as culture rather than faith, which he believes are replacing political ideologies in strategic struggles.

He presents his work by creating a series of photographs and making the most important pictures bigger than the rest.

Ellie Baker

The piece of his work I am currently looking at was mainly about black culture expression in 1920's and 1930's in and around America in major cities such as New York.

The main story that like piece of photography tells is the life and culture of different race together. He tells this story by going to different places and photographing the people together in everyday life.

" Sometimes (the images) seemed more valuable to me than they did to the people I was photographing because I out my heart and soul into them. I liked working with a big portrait camera so I could make changes... That was my style" - James VanDerZee

He is a photographer based in London, but travels all around the world on his photographic assignments. He was born in 1949 in Canada.

This particular assignment, "On The Road Again", was shot over 3 decades. Sykes started by flying to New York, and then bought a 6 day bus ticket and travelled to other American destinations, including North Carolina, Florida, Texas, California, Nevada, and back to New York. The photo journal is full of both photographs and diary entries, both explaining his road trip in completely different ways. Some stories within the diary entries include places he went to eat, people he met, and hotels he stayed in. The photographs tell different stories, they show the life of the people living in America during the times he was there, and how little the USA has actually changed within 3 decades. The earliest photograph in the book is from 1969, and the latest from 2001.

"Homer Sykes has turned this immense country of vast spaces and ordinary people into an intimate album of everyday encounters. With a keenly turned eye and a sense of the absurd, his art is to turn the mundane into the surreal, to infuse the normal with a sense of humour and elevate it to the extraordinary".

Lily Hedges

Muybridge went to San Francisco in 1867 as a professional photographer and worked on a variety pieces of work. One of the works that I like is when he took a photo of San Fransisco from California street hill from no 1 to no 13. I like the idea of traveling in a certain route or on the same road and just documenting everything you see like Muybridge did but just different angles of San Fransisco. He used to have a portable darkroom that he would attach to the back of his car to develop his photographs

began in the summer of 2009 and has now been running for over 5 years. It was
created in memory of her mother, who died in 2008 of cancer. The characters
that she made where not a reaction of anything that already existed; this was
her own personal wonderland. The scenes and images are hybrids, born from the
illustrations mixed up with the dreams and the underlying sadness of her grief.

Kirsty suffered from severe
depression and found herself retreating to an alternative existence of her
camera. This created and unexplained story book without words dedicated to her
mother.

In the 1890s many people in upper- and middle-class society were unaware of the dangerous conditions in the slums among poor immigrants. Jacob Riis, a Danish immigrant who himself could not originally find much work, hoped to expose the squalor of the 19th-century Lower East Side of Manhattan. After a successful career as a police reporter, he published a photojournal documenting these conditions using graphic descriptions, sketches, photographs, and statistics. I find his work extremely interesting as I really enjoy documenting society and how it works.

It consists of a series of images showing the last movements of the eight cyclists killed. The reason for the title of the project is that all but one of the deaths were caused by left-turning lorries. All the seven killed by left-turning lorries were women and the eight person was a man who was killed by a car. He created this project to highlight the issue of cyclists being killed.
