Personally I think this is a great activity for young children, get them thinking about discrimination at a young age will help set their mind set for now and later life. Teaching them that we are all the same, and people can't help what colour their skin is so why judge them for it. And I liked how she turn it around and they eventually realised that the way they talked about 'black' people in the beginning was wrong. It's definitely important to do an activity at a young age like these kids because it wouldn't be as effective doing it when they're older as they're values are already set.

Initially, the children are asked and respond openly with comments which are derogative and discriminative against people of a different skin colour, which has been learned from their society.
Addressing a discriminative, prejudice attitude in an unknown way allows each participant to take part with complete honesty and display their true beliefs on the question at hand. On using the separation experiment by difference in eye colour, demonstrates the recondition of racial beliefs within children.
By separation into the two groups across two days, we can see self-esteem, learning, friendships and attitude effected. This is due to the association of the visual collars, each child on either Tuesday or Wednesday of the experiment are treated differently to identify the difference in appearance which immediately makes them feel positive and negative. On reflection, the children realise and show empathy towards their classmates now they are no longer identified within a specific ‘group’ or separated by a physical characteristic of which they have no control. The experiment is conducted so well due to the conditions, questions and allowance of the children’s behaviour within a controlled environment to accept and challenge ideologies in order to identify a serious issue.

The way the children were acting at the beginning and the attitude they had at the end of the video is mind blowing. This experiment was a success as the eyes experiment made them realise how horrible and unfair any kind discrimination can be, from skin color to eyes color.

What a brilliant way to explain discrimination to a class of children. One minute they were feeling happy because of being superior to the other half of the class & in the next breathe they were made to feel inferior. This allowed them to experience the feelings that people who are discriminated against have to live with every day. Getting children to engage in this sort of activity will hopefully make them think about how they treat people when they grow older & not be influenced by others on how to treat individuals because of the colour of their skin.

This video sends out a very powerful message right from the beginning. The discrimination which the children display shows how they can be conditioned into thinking and feeling a certain way. The evidence in the chip shows how they are only feeling this way because the teacher displays prejudice in an influential way. Although the teacher shows how the children have displayed discrimination against different race they also learnt how discrimination can effect each other. This activity I thought would have a great impact on all the children in how they would deal with discrimination in the future and learnt to treat everyone as they would like to be treated.
