Connotation- valuable, elegant, delicate, expensive, desirable Using the word chandelier adds a positive and sophisticated mood to this section of the story. The author used the phrase fancy chandelier so we can learn how Esperanza's great-grandfather views her great-grandmother. We learn that he loved her and really wanted to marry her. He values her and sees her as a delicate, elegant, desirable woman. The message would have been significantly different if the author said, “As if she were a sack of potatoes.”

I think the author used this to show how cathy thinks of lucy and rachel by explaining them in a way like crooked which makes the reader think of uneven. It added to the story by letting the readers know how lucy and rachel are similar when it comes to money with esperanza. we learn that they are perfect for esperanza because they just want to be there to have fun and not worry about anything else

An interesting topic in my book is how juli had to hatch 6 chicks for her science fair project. Ive learned by reading that there are a lot of requirements for hatching eggs, If it is too hot or too cold it can cause them to not be able to hatch or they could have trouble developing. Juli also talks about how if you dont get rid of a non developed egg it could explode and affect other eggs growth. I am wondering how long it can take to hatch chickens and if there are any other requirements right after they are born. This topic impacted the story because this is how juli got her eggs to give to bryce and how juli started to turn against bryce and was very mad at him

Give me a review about your book. So far, what do you like about your book? What do you not like? Who would you recommend this book to? Why? There are many conflicts in my book but the main one is juli has had a big crush on bryce all her life and all she has wanted is for him to like her back but finally when he does he messes up with juli and she starts to hate him. This affects the characters because it makes juli mad at bryce and bryce wanting her to forgive him more andmore every day
