Students bring in their favorite books and battle head-to-head in a knockout tournament. In one round they might powerfully read a passage against another book in a battle (the class votes). In the following round they might debate the greatness of their main character. You can choose the categories of the battle until a winner is crowned.

Sell your favourite book to a film company. Deliver a persuasive pitch with a maximum time of one minute. Persuade a director that your book will be the next hit - explain why. This could be adapted for a different purpose and audience. Vote on the most persuasive. Could be done by genre or in rounds to make it more of a competition.

Guidance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Zl5aC1zvM

Examples
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5NTwMRjPA8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1uj2X2DdWs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v96-B_8-q44

Students choose their favorite book and create a book trailer to summarize it. The trailer could be an animated video, stop motion animation, mini drama that the student acts out, etc. The students can get creative and make a video in the style they are interested in. The content could include a simple summary (without spoiling the end) or a review rating the book with evidence to support ideas.

Write down the titles of 10 books you can’t live without! These books can be written in your home language, in English… They can be novels, graphic novels, any book you really love and would like to tell the world about! Decorate the spines as in the examples.

For 5 of the books, you have to write down several reasons (3 or 4 or more) why you have chosen them to be on your ideal bookshelf. You are trying to convince the audience (your classmates) to read that book because you think it’s brilliant! How are you going to do that? what are you going to say to grab their interest? You will have the opportunity to tell all of us after you finish the assignment. Your bookshelves will be displayed outside our classroom.
