Its trunk is strong and old. 

Its leaves blow in a soft hot breeze.

Its inner peace may be disturbed but it stands strong for those around it.

It gets colder and the leaves get older, their appearance changes.

Its surrounded by the soft smell of rot yet;

that seems so comforting.

The light is dimmer outside as they all move inside.

It's bare and chilly. That only means the ground holds on stronger.

A solid and weighty hug.

It wears a sweater of soft white.

They admire its beauty as they walk by but don’t stop to say hi.

Its leaves grow back again. Beautiful, soft, and green.

All around everything thrives.

It exudes a soft comfort for those around.

But even through the shared comfort and love, they begin to pack up and leave.

It’s alright though. They’ll be back soon.

This poem is inspired by ‘Aunt Jennifer’s Tigers.’ I follow the same idea of passing time in addition to the format.

and scratched him on the back,

He screamed and cried

And fell down on the shack.

The dog chased the cat

And jumped into his lap,

The cat got mad

but decided to take a nap.

They ran back to their mother.

Looking at the sky

The crescent moon

Passing me by

The trees blew in the storm

The leaves rustling in the night

They terrified me in the silence

That a killer might come to bite

After dreaming of a rocky coast

To my relief I was alive but then

I looked in the mirror and saw my ghost

Whether it’s thirty minutes or forty-eight hours, I miss you more everyday

Your support has gotten me through highs and lows

Through the exciting days and the days that are slow

I miss the way you understand me better than I understand myself

You give me the advice that you never gave yourself

Instead of on long calls, miles away 

I wish you were in my arms planning to stay

This poem was inspired by Aunt Jennifer's Tigers by Adrienne Rich. I tried to use the same rhyming technique she did while keeping a good flow.

I hate that you make me smile

And make me feel cared for

I hate that a hug from you can fix anything

Hustle and bustle of the dark night,

The drunk waddling

mumbling about what a bad day it is,

couples back from work

with great tiredness,

the faded love proved the how unrealistic the hope is.

But look!

the thunder roars,

the rain is seeming to cause flood to cover the whole land
