This sets the premises that the video will be narrative based, however the main guy in the video is the lead singer of the band Matt Healy and is seen later on singing the song within the narrative of the video, so its a performance and narrative music video. There is a brand image of The 1975, the band that make the song from the costume that he is wearing. The lighting within the video changes through the different scenes. There are mainly high key lighting through most of the video, however there are some low key lighting clips split up throughout the video, which is later on explained why. As the video progresses they slowly start to foreshadow an incident by showing a bloody hand print and wrapped up wounds on the guys chest. The narrative of a couple is very stereotypical and also shows a lot of features more to the rock genre. For example there is a lot of smoking, sexual scenes, violence and gun and drug usage with skateboarding and tattoos, which are all to appeal to the target audience of the rock genre. With the band and song being in the indie genre as well, it also conforms to indie genre types like the cinematography and creative aspects of the video especially with the couple featured. Other ways the music video conforms to the genre conventions is the locations it uses within the video.
