Zeus's daughter Athena is referred to be the goddess of war. A particular story of her birth claims that, because she had no mother, she came fully formed out of Zeus's brow. There is also a tale that "Zeus swallowed Metis, the goddess of counsel, while she was pregnant with Athena, so that Athena finally emerged from Zeus." In any case, Athena emerged from Zeus. Zeus additionally granted her favor, which gave her a lot of power. Despite being the gods of war, Ares and Athena had distinct meanings. Ares, was intended to be more physical and bloody. Athena, on the other hand, stands for the more considerate aspect. She stands for the qualities of justice and skill as well as the rational and refined side of warfare.

Athena represents wisdom, war, and peace. She is the daughter of Zeus and Greece's capital was named after her. She is a guardian of Athens and her passion was to lead and teach the people of Athens. She harshly believed in female empowerment to show that females aren't weak because back then men were always superior. Because of this, Athena can also represent "feminism." Not only this, Athena fought for what she thought was right. These thoughts include: justice, the truth, and moral values. Athena is a role model for women as they want to achieve "equal footing" with men because Athena promotes so many things. She encourages higher learning and even to pursue learning.

How Athena Functions Within The Odyssey

In The Odyssey, Athena is appraised as one of the most important goddesses due to the fact that she miraculously saves the day on multiple occasions. Throughout this story, we learn and see that Athena's role is being a patron goddess. In the poet book she is mainly known as the benefactor for Oddysseus. She was a mentor or teacher for Oddysseus and his son as they went through a rough time. A quote I used to help me come up with these ideas is "Odysseus and his son with sage advice, most often in the form of the aged man, Mentor, as the two confront life's battles."
