         <description><![CDATA[<div>Michael Ward, a doctor in Manchester, stated that the health of child workers in cotton factories is very poor. Children were being injured in the machinery and the factories overall were "nurseries of disease and vice". He himself experienced shortness of breath while inside the factory, showing how the factory's environment was unsafe for children.<br>/<br>Edward Holme, a doctor in Manchester hired by a factory owner, claims that the children working in cotton factories were "in good health generally", finding only twenty two to be "of delicate appearances." However, as he was hired (and probably bribed) by a cotton factory owner, we do not know if these facts are accurate.</div>]]></description>
