But little did they know, they were not fasting, well not the right type of fasting in which God wanted them to fast. The purpose of their fast was right, but their manner and motive in which they fasted was incorrect.  Therefore, God told them the TRUE meaning of fasting. We, God's people, should fast to draw closer to God, and in result to know more about the Him. True fasting is about humbling ourselves before God. If you fast, it is between you and the Lord, we shouldn't announce that we fast, like it makes us better than everyone else. True fasting is also to not oppress people around us, but to repent and turn away from our sins.  A true change in heart, a true repentance from sins, will change us inside, and that is FASTING. God wants us to share the food with the hungry, provide shelter to the homeless, to clothe the naked, and to not pretend like they're invisible. This is the fasting the Lord wants His people to do, to do right. We need to show mercy and compassion to our brothers and sisters who are in need. We shall not turn our heads, we shall not walk away but we shall help, we shall give to them, instead of ourselves. That is FASTING! Trust me, God will answer your prayers, He will reward you when you are in the dark, he shall be your flashlight. God will be proud that you know the TRUE MEANING OF FASTING. Do you fast in such ways like helping the poor, or showing mercy others? Or do you fast by eating less and posting it on social media with the hashtag God? Look inside yourself, and see which fasting is the right fasting that God expects you, His people to do. This day is known as judgement day as well. When Jesus comes, he will congregate all the people from the start of time till the end of time and will separate them by sheep and goats. Sheep represent the people that have faith, who follow in Christ, and who are righteous. Goats represent those who are stubborn, and refuse to follow, who rejected Christ, the unrighteous. To the sheep, He shall gift us not only a Kingdom where He is the King but the gift eternal life, while the rest shall experience eternal punishment. The sheep, are those who clothe the naked, give drink to the thirsty, those who are there for the sick, are those people who where there for Jesus. As much as we do for our brothers and sisters is what we do to God. If you hurt your sister, you hurt God, but if you help your brother, you help God. God knows everything we did, do, and will do to others, He knows what we did to him. Faith and works are how we get saved and have eternal life. God shall reward us for everything we do for our brothers and sisters, just like how He will punish us for everything wrong we did towards our brothers and sisters. Actually, some people wait for a physical King to come, then to have faith that God is real. Our FAITH is what SAVES US but our ACTIONS just show that our faith is GENUINE. If you just have faith without actions, your faith shows that you don't honor Jesus, or believe in Him. We can say we have faith, and focus on the outside, and protect our image but in the inside our hearts may be corrupt, and we don't really have faith.  We shall experience the pits of Hell with the devil since we turned away from our brothers and sisters, we turned away from God. So, are you a sheep or a goat? Is your faith genuine? Do you think you will have eternal life or eternal punishment where you shall live in hell? It is better to notice these things today and be better tomorrow, grow faith so we can get rewarded with eternal life. We need to be loving and show mercy to our brothers and sisters. None of us know when the day will come, the day our lives will never end, the day Christ will return on solid ground.  We need to chose whether we want to be a sheep or a goat. To begin, this “blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.” We must see this as an ideal image of how to begin our prayer. When we start to pray, we must see our littleness, weakness and extreme poverty in our spiritual life. We come to God with nothing. Unable to see. A beggar. And one who is incapable of meeting our own spiritual needs. This is Bartimaeus, and this must be the way we come to our Lord in prayer. You should sense our Lord’s divine presence touching you in some way, then further imitate Bartimaeus by calling out interiorly, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!” The cry from the depths of your heart in prayer must come as a result of Jesus “passing by.” It must be a response to Him coming to you on His own. As Jesus passes by, spiritually speaking, He waits for you to call to Him. He desires that you call to Him. My compassionate Lord, I come to You in my weakness and poverty, I come in need of Your divine touch and healing. As You do pass by, I acknowledge Your presence and call to You. Clare left her home and joined Francis of Assisi, forming her own religious order as a result of Francis' preaching. Francis of Assisi arrived to preach in the church of San Giorgio in Assisi when Clare was 18 years old. Clare was moved by his remarks and asked Francis to assist her in dedicating her life to God, which he promised to do. Francis was cared for by Clare near the end of his life, and she was present when he died in 1226. Clare continued to foster the growth of her order until her death in 1253, despite her terrible health.
