I’d like to explore this more. I do this when I put props in a space and invite children to pick them up, ie tossing shakers in the air, pouring shakers on the floor, putting spots around the room that we dance on or around.

Role-play feels like a superb example of learning through play at work. It also is such an imaginative door for modeling to take place.

Since there are many needs for prompting ...bringing always a visual, maybe asl sign, and lots

For modeling have a doll or main character model..lots of fun!

One way I think about modeling is "small to large" - using a storybox to show some sequence and then move into a whole body experience.

I enjoyed the reminder about the hirarchy of prompting. The idea of not usinging physical manipulation is important.

Provide the materials and see what happens and or model how to interact with the materials.

I sometimes use nonverbal modeling as a prompt, followed by a smile or thumbs up to those who follow. It’s interesting to see which children follow right away, and the process of watching others catch on.

I remember in my early WT years, we worked on how to prompt children to keep steady beat, with exactly that "fading" idea.
