During these times, however, we are still not free of conspiracy theories. For instance, a few years ago, Bill Gates gave a TED Talk discussing how there is a high possibility that there is going to be a pandemic soon, and it will be deadly since we do not have the resources to combat it. He bases these predictions on the recent increase of infectious diseases, such as Ebola; thus, he urged his audience to promote an increase in medical resources. Based on the speech that he gave,  lonely and bored people while in quarantine have formed conspiracy theories, such as the fact that Bill Gates created the virus. There are many reasons why they believe he could do this, such as the fact that after this virus, governments would probably invest in the medical field, and he has constantly advocated for this field; consequently, he would profit from this. However, this type of thinking is illogical since he is one of the richest people in the world, and he has become one of the most impactful philanthropists ever. In fact, he has donated millions of dollars for the creation of a vaccine for this virus. On the other hand, other theorists believe that it is not Bill Gates’ fault but the Chinese government's. They might believe that the government just wanted to increase its economy, so they released a virus. Additionally, some believe that a laboratory might have accidentally released a novel virus. Of course, almost anything is possible, so there could be some truth to what these theories are stating; however, it is very unlikely that a virus could have been released because the labs where they are working with viruses would have been extremely protected and the people working there are experienced professionals who have been trained to work this. If the Chinese government did this just to increase their economy, that would unreasonable since their economy has significantly decreased, more than numerous countries due to the virus. I understand why some people are saying these kinds of things; they might be very lonely and bored so the only thing they might have left to do is just to browse over the Internet and find conspiracy theories. I did not think much about it then; however, it slowly but steadily crept into every conversation. Towards the end of January, I went to the University of Florida for a competition. There, I could observe one or two people wearing masks. As the months went on, the virus began to infect people in other countries, such as Italy. We could listen t the news, and how they were in quarantine, and that there were not enough beds. Finally, it reached Florida, I can still remember when it was only three cases in Broward County. One day, while I was in my grammar class, I received an email stating that the State Science Fair was canceled due to COVID-19. This was one of my greatest accomplishments until then, and I was really depressed that I had been robbed of the opportunity to participate in this competition. That was one of the first events that were canceled due to this virus. After that, I would ask some teachers if they thought that our school was going to close, but most of them believed that we will continue to with our usual classrooms. Then came the day in which they canceled classes. Previous to this, I had listened to mentions of how teachers were having meetings regarding what and how they were going to do with the current situation. We knew that that day was going to determine the future of our classes for the rest of the year. During my sixth period, Civics, we were all notified that classes were going to be canceled for one whole week, plus spring break, resulting in a two-week “vacation”. For instance, here in Florida, the beaches have already opened; I worry, however, that the virus will mutate or another surge will occur. I believe that some states have “slacked off”. They have stopped or never had what is necessary during these times, such as quarantine. Sadly, there are still some ignorant people who believe that there should not be any quarantine. Because of this and due to the fact that governors are scared that after this virus a lot of companies are going to close, they are gradually opening different industries and locations. There is a higher possibility that this pandemic could get worse, and just by leaving our houses, we are increasing that risk. The closest I have gotten to leaving my house has been to go to my pool. Because of online learning, I have obtained the opportunity to have new hobbies and got to the pool. A few days ago, however, I learned that the classes have been extended to 45 minutes (instead of 30 minutes) and lowered the breaks from 15 minutes to 10 minutes, which alters my schedule. I enjoy the days in which we do not have Google Meets. I have a set schedule now: I begin by waking up at 7:15 and exercising until 8:00. I then shower and have breakfast until 8:30, where I usually begin classes (Google Meets or not). On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I might usually wake up later, thus I might not exercise, or I might delay my schedule. • I was not really concerned since it was supposed to be a virus that was singularly going to affect China. 

Did you think adults were over-reacting? Underreacting? 

• I believe that they were underreacting since they did not even consider a possibility that it could reach us.  

What did the government announce/declare/implement today?

• That the government is planning to “wind down” the restrictions due to the virus.

How does it impact your life?

• I am obligated to take online classes and I can not leave my house

Does it make sense to you? 

• In my opinion, I believe that the restriction shouldn’t be lowered yet since there is a possibility that the virus can resurface

How did your family respond? 

• We are all in quarantine and have tried to leave the house the least possible.

What are you grateful for today? 

• I am grateful that my family is still healthy and are not experiencing economic issues.

Did you see anything that gave you hope? Anxiety? Fear? Write about it. 

• The news headlines stating that this situation might go on for a while gives me fear. I also fear that someone in my family can get infected.
• I have hope when I read news about new possible vaccines, and that they might start producing them massively in the following months.
• It gives me anxiety knowing that I will not see my family in the next few months. I am stressed about the fact that opening borders will not come soon and its consequences; most of our family is in Peru, and my oldest son is currently in Canada studying. I worry that they might get infected, and they can even die from this. 

What does your family need today that you might not have/have enough of/ have the ability to acquire? 

• Products that we use in our daily lives to disinfect products. For instance, there is not enough soap, hand sanitizer, or basically any cleaning utensils.

What would you tell yourself a few months ago? 

• I would have convinced my son who lives in Canada to come here before the borders close. He is currently stuck there alone.

What made today special? 

• That we are cooking delicious dishes every single day. Moreover, I had a FaceTime call with mom, who is in Peru, and my son. 

What are you craving today that you can’t have/get/do because of the shelter-in-place? 

• I would like to go to the movies and afterwards go to a restaurant together. Moreover, you and I have been trying to organize the house (since we moved a few months ago), and we have been attempting to get rid of clothes that we do not need anymore (and in the future donate them). Thus, I would also like to buy new clothes and decorations for the house.

After that, videos around the world appeared about mysterious sightings of these UFOs. Regarding the Pentagon videos, it in not certain if the flying objects were extraterrestrial or not, which also goes along with the other videos. Additional to that, the other videos could have been doctored to cause panic.
