IB Learner Profile - Thinkers, students need to think about how to provide clean and affordable energy to solve problems and Inquiriers to research the different solutions to providing clean energy

Thinker: Students will apply critical thinking skills to evaluate the current solutions to global health issues, and specifically create a solution for a challenge.

Approaches to Learning:

Research: Students will need to evaluate sources to collect data, and then analyze information regarding why certain countries have effective health care measures while others falter?

Thinking: Students will need to analyze the date on global health care and make predictions based on evidence as to trends in global health and what could assist in better care.

Communication: Students will need to clearly and concisely communicate their understanding of health and care both orally and written.

IB Learner Profile- Risk-Takers: work independently and cooperatively to explore new ideas. and Balanced: We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of our lives intellectual, physical, and emotional to achieve well-being for ourselves and others.

Students will be able to communicate factual information and social impact of women, children and the environment. (Communication - use of variety of media to communicate with a range of audiences)

Communication Skills: Being able to communicate why we are seeing an influx in poverty and deconstruct the assumptions/biases placed upon people living in poverty.

Affective Skills: Having emotional management to eliminate bullying towards people living in poverty.

Collaboration Skills: Practicing having empathy while also helping others, advocating for human rights and needs, making fair and equitable decisions, and negotiating effectively for everyone.

Inquirer students need to be able to be curious an research upon the reason for poverty around the world, the impacts, and solutions that can be taken through better understanding of research. Caring students will have the ability to show empathy in order to gain understanding and resect for others, allowing the to make positive differences in the lives of people in poverty in the world around us.

Communicators - students need to be able to communicate their desire for an education to various stakeholders, in order to be given the opportunity for a quality education.

Once given that opportunity, they need to communicate their ideas and understanding of concepts are learning about in school in order to receive feedback and further their understanding.

Risk-Takers

students must be willing to take risks in the classroom, in order to challenge themselves. This involves being willing to engage in work/thinking outside their comfort zone and be willing to accept constructive criticism and challenges to their current thinking

Inquirers

students need to exhibit curiosity and ask deep and often troubling questions, in order to develop a new understanding of the concepts they are learning

Reflective

students need to reflect on their learning to see what adjustments need to be made in order to better understand and apply their learning to novel situations

students need to be able to regulate their emotions in two key areas; social interactions and frustration tolerance, otherwise they will not be available for learning (note: the adoption of a growth mindset and perseverance is critical)
