The National Assembly was stablished. Members of the third state mostly bourgoisie, stablished (influenced by enlightment ideas) that the three estates should join and so that everybody should have a vote. Altough the king didnt listen to them, they became each time more powerfull. And supported by the ideas of Emmanuel-Joseph Sieyés. The third estate delegates agreed to stablish the National Assembly giving an end to the absolute monarchy and beginning the representative government which was one of the first sights of revolution. This could be related with the enlightement ideas of Rousseau, taking into account he presented equality and direct democracy, and that what the third estate was looking forward to be able to vote.

Just three days later, delegates from the third state who created the national assembly, wanted to make up a new constitution. They stayed in an indoor tennis court until they finished their new constitution. This was then known as the Tennis Court Oath.

With time nobles and members of the clergy also started to support the national assembly. Throughout time nobles also wanted to delete the feudal priviledges of the First and Second estates looking for equality. And so for august 25, 1789, the National Assembly took into account some revolutionary ideals, which were, the Declaration of Rights of Man and of the Citizen. And then revolutionary leaders taking into account what was presented in this document, followed with the expression "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" as their campaing. However altough they wanted equality this principle didnt apply to everyone. Women such as Wollstonecraft, De Gaulle and Du Gouge wanted equality as well in womens rights. However for example in the case of Du Gouge, when she expressed her ideas about women rights, she was believed as an enemy of the revolution.

Finally, the members of the National Assembly, achieved to finish and complete the new constitution. This one was accepted and approved by King Louis. A new legislative power was created which had the power to create laws and approve or reject wars. As well the power of the king decreased. Creating a limited constitutional government. However the king still counted with great power. This counts as well with nationalist ideas as war were given a high importance believing national well-being was more important than individual interests. And that some enlightment ideas such as Montesquiu (Separation of power) could had help with this new political system.

Altough government had change, there were still some internal problems such as food shortage and internal debt. For this the legislative branch had to divide as well into smaller branches with different points of view. The radicals (left), opposed monarchy system and wanted to make changes on the way the territory was ruled. The moderates (center) wanted changes but not as drastic as the radicals wanted. The conservatives (right) which wanted to stay with the idea of a limited country. And there are two more which werent part of the legislative bfrand but wanted to influence the way the government was directed. This were the Émigrés and the sans-culottes. The Émigrés wanted to go back to the old regime. And the Sans-culottes wanted the revolution to bring wider changes to France.

Other European countries saw the changes happening in France and were afraid of them happening in their own country. This could be as well related to nationalism as they wanted social security above individual believes. So in response to the ideas of other countries which wanted the king to go back to a monarchy, the legislative assembly declared a war. Austria and Prussian forces finally made that the legislative assembly set aside the constitution and called for a new constitution. Soon in september 21, the National Convention took place, and France became a republic.

Maximilien Robespierre, a Jacobin leader, was slowly gaining power. With other people support, he wanted to built a "Republic of virtue" by erasing everything that had to do with France in the past. He even changed the calendar for having 12 months of 30 days. This because he beleived in reason just as Voltaire in his enlightment ideas.

Robespierre became leader of the Comitte of public safety. And he governed France as a dictator. His period was known as the Reign of terror. His job was to protect the revolution from his enemies or those who were against of it. But he constatly sent this supposed enemies of the revollution to the guillotine, killing them. This to create terror between society and so that they always supported the revolutionary ideals. This I would say has to do as well with nationalism, because Robespierre believes national security comes with people who believe in revolution, and so he kills every other who has a different interest, because he believes like this he will obtain a better society.
