My feeling is that while students are used to having digital for entertainment purposes, in the working world, people need to be able to distinguish between play and work. This is a work device. I need to know more information before I can say what the school should do. Are the text books are on the ipad? Do they need the ipads to do school work?

We need to tell our students that the school has safety policies concerning the use of technologies and they have to follow.Classes about Digital Citizenship are a good idea. Being a good digital citizen is more than your students just knowing their way around the web. It's about connecting and collaborating in ways they didn't even know were possible. When you teach digital citizenship to your students, you help create a positive school culture that supports safe and responsible technology use

I believe we are beginning to live in a time where most individuals have enough technology. However, even in the corporate world, people are having difficulties separating work from leisure. As I am typing now on my work-issued laptop, I also have tabs open to my personal email account, a shopping link, and my lesson plans. I, too, use technology that's supposed to be used for one thing for more. So, I understand where the kids in L.A. are coming from. But from a bureaucratic stand-point, that creates a lot of issues. I am, in a sense, violating my own privacy by allowing work to have access to my private and personal non-work activities.
