To use the drum the user must wave the drum by twisting it with the wrist, in doing so the beads will strike the sides of the drum. The drum typically weighs approximately 1/2 LB. The musical instrument originates from ancient India however great use was made of it in the Tibetan region beginning in around the 10th century by the people of the region, and it remains a key instrument in tibetan culture and Buddhism.

Starting in 1949 preparations for a movement of troops into Tibet was made by The People's Republic of China. On the 7th of October 1950 the Chinese military advanced with the intention of capturing the rather small Tibetan army in the city of Chamdo to force the Tibetan government to hand over Tibet to the Chinese government. A battle occurred during which 114 Chinese soldiers and 180 Tibetan soldiers would be killed or wounded. With the remaining 2700 Tibetan soldiers surrendering.

There also exists wheels that are turned by wind power and the wheel helps purify the wind to get rid of negative karma that those who are touched by the wind may have. There are also wheels in rows side by side in monasteries.
