Thomas Edison was a very important person because he became the first person to create a world industrial research laboratory. He also invented the world's first light bulb, phonograph, and one of the earliest motion picture cameras. Thomas Edison is known as, "The Wizard of Menlo Park." He is called that because he set up his home and research laboratory there.

Henry Bessemer was the first to develop a process for manufacturing steel in an inexpensive way, which ended up leading to the Bessemer Process. Due to steel being invented, people were able to use it to make railroads, machines, skyscrapers, bridges, and barbed wire.

Main idea #1

One main idea of the Industrial revolution is that it started off as a rural area which was filled with villages and hamlets where everything was relaxing and simple. The rural area was filled with laborers working by hand and had direct contact with nature. The government eventually changed from rural to urban. An urban area was full of cities and towns and was a non-agricultural work area because at that point machines were invented and used for many different things.

Another main idea is when the government started off as "hands on." Eventually the government was changed by Laissez Faire to a "hands off," government. The idea of the "hands off" government was what in an economic system, free enterprise will regulate itself, as if one party offers a product that is low quality, people will not buy it.

One thing I can relate to is the first main idea because cities and towns are what people live in nowadays. I live in a neighborhood with many other people and houses around me, Machines became very useful. Machines are used to make almost half of the things we own in the world now.
