تنبع أهمية الوطن بالنسبة للفرد من شعوره بالاطمئنان الناتج عن وجود أرض تُحفظ فيها كرامته، ويتمتع فيها بحقوقه، بالإضافة إلى ما يربطه بها من مشاعر وجدانية تقوي هذه الصلة،[١] وتُعرَف الوطنيّة بأنّها التمسّك والالتزام ببلد أو مجتمع سياسيّ أو أمة، كما تحمل الوطنيّة التي تعني حبّ الوطن نفس دلالة القومية، وهي الولاء لأمّة واحدة، حيث ترجع أصولها إلى قبل حوالي 2000 سنةٍ قبل ظهور القوميّة في القرن التاسع عشر

كيفية حب الوطن

التصويت: يُعدّ من طرق التعبير عن حب الوطن، ومن المسؤوليات اتجاهه، لذا من الواجب تعليمه، ونقله للأطفال أيضاً. المشاركة في الأحداث الوطنية: مثل: حفلات عيد الاستقلال، والحفلات الموسيقيّة، والمسرحيات التاريخيّة عن الوطن، وأيضاً متابعة الأخبار المحلية. رفع العلم: عن طريق تعليق علم الدّولة في الحديقة، أو على النافذة. القراءة عن الوطنية: يمكن قراءة الكتب التي تتحدّث عن الوطنية، وعن تاريخ البلاد على مرّ السنين. المشاركة بالأنشطة الوطنية: مثل: المشاركة في إحدى العروض الوطنية كالاستعراض العسكري، وحضور جلسات تشريعية محلية أو على مستوى الوطن، أو جلسات استماع، أو اجتماع اللّجنات، وإلقاء الخطابات في الأحداث الوطنية العامة، وزيارة المتاحف الوطنية
