The writer does this to gain the attention of the reader by these short tenses as they build up the suspense for the readers, and also bring their attention towards a fact that they're trying to emphasise by removing all other information that may not be related to it. This technique primarily engaged the reader and is necessary in those works where impact of the work is necessary.

The students have each used a different approach to write their responses. Out of the three of them, student response B have only directly named theories such as language death, while C and D do explain such theories, they mostly deal with it generally from their wider study and the text given to them. I've learned how to respond to such a question to an extent by looking at these student responses as well as the examiner report.

The responses were generally credited on the basis of their understanding of text a and b however quotations as well as being more precise than sophisticated in terms of answer was appreciated. The examiner wishes students use more examples from the knowledge of the topic as well as directing the focus of their answer to the problem immediately. Another thing that the examiner approved given responses was the fact that they kept in mind the texts that were given and kept on going back and forth making links. Therefore the answers were good however there was still space to make these openings even better. Personally feel like one needs to address the problem with reference to the texts given and then quote in their knowledge of the topic to further emphasize on the issue. The opening needs to be introductory therefore immediately setting forth to quotations would also be a good strategy. - Ameer Hamza

The text also highlighted the different ways through which language was acquired by child and how differently it was for adults. With the use of certain terminologies in the extract it was clearly evident how the writer was referring to certain theories proposed that is connected to the cognition of the child. Also the last text was referring to the certain age at which language is acquired by children - lang acquisition becomes less efficient as the time passes by.
