The Dieppe raid was in Augustus.19/1942. In that day 6 100 troops 5000 of them were Canadian troops.They attacked France because Germany took over France and they had to get back. In one day all the troops attacked to get it back and ya they got it because France was one of the major powers because they had a lot of troops,but it cost Canadian a lot of solider to take France back 916 soldier died on that attack, so the allies get France back. in January 1st/1940 the women started to wear shorter because be four 1940 women had to wear long to cover there legs and arms  because that how it use to work. in 1940s the woman wanted to get its own staff to do like wearing how they want short or long, so they started to wear shorter than what than be four. than they wear like than until this days because now women wear way shorter than they use to wear at that time.
