That the husband was so lazy, and required everything to be split 50/50, but then took and ate so much, and spent so much more than she ever did. So he escaped a lot of the costs.

That the mother took the dead crab, as well as how she knew that the crab was dead, before even checking, and took that one insteadof letting another person take it.

I feel ths the book connects to the theme of Constructing Identities. This theme mostly relates more towards the daughter's who are caught in the middle of a struggle between who they think they are and who their mothers want them to be. The daughters are trying to balance both influences to create their Identities.

What is it that changes Rose's perspective, making her want to sign divorce papers and take the house in the divorce?
Why is it that Waverly is shown in a bad light in Jing-Mei's chapter whereas in Waverly's chapters she is shown in a more human light and it is easier to understand her perspective?

Ted sending the check was something I found interesting because we only get Rose’s side of it. I think it would be interesting to understand Ted’s motives and thinking behind his actions.

When Jing-Mei and Waverly were trying to humiliate each other, why did they keep escalating the situation to that point rather than letting it go and moving on?

I feel that this book really connects to the theme of Relationships and Community because there are many instances in the book where the daughters are talking about their relationship with their mothers and how sometimes it is hard to get to know them and understand them. This book relates to the community aspect because it shows how the mothers are trying to adapt to a community other than what they are used to.
