Mexico's struggle for independence started in 1810 with Miguel Hidalgo's "Grito de Dolores," urging the end of Spanish rule. The movement was driven by social inequalities and a demand for land reform. Key figures like José María Morelos and Vicente Guerrero emerged as leaders during the conflict. After over a decade of fighting, Mexico finally achieved independence in 1821. This pivotal event significantly shaped the nation's identity and governance.

Brazil's independence from Portugal was declared on September 7, 1822, primarily led by Dom Pedro I, the son of the Portuguese king. The movement arose from discontent over colonial policies and the desire for autonomy, especially after Portugal's shift in governance during the Napoleonic Wars. Tensions escalated when the Portuguese crown attempted to reassert control, prompting Dom Pedro to refuse their demands. The declaration of independence was marked by the famous phrase "Independência ou Morte!" ("Independence or Death!"). Brazil's transition to independence was relatively peaceful compared to other Latin American nations, leading to the establishment of a constitutional monarchy.

The Revolutions of 1848 in Italy were part of a series of uprisings across Europe, driven by demands for national unification, political liberalization, and social reforms. Key regions involved included the Kingdom of Sardinia, the Papal States, and various Italian duchies. Prominent figures like Giuseppe Mazzini and Charles Albert of Sardinia played crucial roles in the revolutionary movements. Despite initial successes, the revolutions ultimately failed to achieve lasting change, leading to a restoration of conservative rule. However, these events laid the groundwork for the later unification of Italy in the 1860s.
