Some people wanted slaves to have the right to vote so they decide to give them 3/5ths of a vote.<br>Connecticut Comp.- The people wanted better representation. It was then agreed that congress should be divided into two houses.<br>Commerce and slave trade- Wanted to protect interest of slave traders so congress forbade the tax of goods from any state.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Connecticut Compromise - The states wanted better representation. States get equal votes in senate and house votes are based on population.<br><br>3/5ths Compromise - They were taxing each others goods that crossed into each others state. They agreed to count 3/5 of the states slaves for population in representation and taxation.<br><br>Commerce and Slave Trade - Northern states wanted the central gov. to regulate interstate commerce and foreign trade. Slave holders were protected by forbidding congress the power to tax the export of goods.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>3/5ths Compromise - </strong>people were unsure who to count in a census. So it was decided that every free men would be counted as 1 person and every other person would be counted as 3/5ths of a person.&nbsp;</div><div><br><strong>Connecticut Compromise - </strong>The small states were afraid that they wouldn't get equal representation. The compromise stated that the senate would have equal representatives and the House would be based on population of the state.</div><div><br><strong>Commerce and Slave Trade Compromise - </strong>Presented at the Constitutional Convention. Problem was states in North wanted congress to have power to regulate commerce. Instead, congress was forbid the power to tax export of goods.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Representation in Congress was the conflict. The Connecticut Compromise solved this conflict by creating a bicameral legislature that appeased both sides. The Senate had the equal representation that the small states wanted, and the House had the representation based on population that the big states wanted.<br><br>Slave Trade Compromise&nbsp;<br>The Commerce and Slave Trade was presented at the Constitutional Convention. One of the major disputes was over an issue of the sates in the North wanted Congress to have power to regulate commerce.<br><br>3/5 Compromise- southern states with a large slave population felt they weren't being fairly represented in the house of representatives, so an agreement was made that slaves counted as 3/5 total when apportioning representatives.</div>]]></description>
