Perception of customers is influenced by our own perceptions, prejudices and snap judgments of people.

The factors that influence our social perceptions are; physical, stereotyping, emotional states, cultural and gender difference, and confirmation bias. Tattoos, appearance, and piercings are examples of physical perceptions. Emotional states can alter our social perceptions by influencing our judgments. An example of cultural and gender differences is racism.

Improving social perceptions is the ability to make a accurate judgement of something and to step back and gather more information because your perception could be altered or change over time. The three factors that influence perceptions are attention and selection, organization, and interpretation.

Our idea or mental image that we have about ourselves defines our self-concept. These ideas come from our self-perception, our experiences, and the reactions and responses of others.
