In the Kevin Carr, "Dating Is Dead" TED talk on Youtube, I didn't find it surprising when he said that the average millennial doesn't know what an actual date is.  The concept is this, no one knows how to date properly like in our parents or grandparents era.

Just in case you didn't know, a date is planned and well thought out.  The picture represents this concept because it shows an example of an acceptable dating activity.

Immigration is the action to move permanently to another country other than your own. "In the United States, which has a history of welcoming and absorbing immigrants from different lands, assimilation has been a function of immigration." - Introduction to Sociology (pg 233)
My wife and son have immigrated all the way from Nairobi, Kenya to Brooklyn, New York but from there we built a our family and moved elsewhere.
I chose this picture because it showed her as if she was journeying from afar.  My wife came from the most difficult background that a child could come from as if she were a flower growing up through the crack in the cement.  But now she is here and were are working on making her become a citizen.

Who benefits from this?

Everyone in the United States would benefit from immigrants staying here. They better our economy and provide the natives competitive job searching and receiving.

I chose El Dorado Hills, CA as the location because that town is the definition of "White Privilege".

Privilege or more accurately put, "White Privilege" is as this "...the benefits people receive simply by being part of the dominant group" - Introduction to Sociology (pg. 228)
The imagine above is an example of general "Privilege" but I want the viewer to get out of it, is that everything about this country is a privilege.  There are "Rights" and "Freedoms", that I feel that most Americans, expect to be given them just because they were born.  I am often reminded by my immigrant friends and family that I am so "blessed" by my "White Privilege".  Having a positive relationship with the law, being wanted more by various schools, attending schools that are specific one "race", learning about my "race" in school in a positive light, having children's books that are mainly white children, and etcetera are all examples of "White Privilege".  And it needs to stop!

Deep Question:

Who made/created this?

The people of the United States made "Privilege" what it is today. A majority of the time, they act as a spoiled child. Usually saying something along the lines, "It is my right!", this could be taken as just because I was born I deserve it.

This image is an example of a blended family because I am obviously not the biological father of my son but we are having to learn to get along with each other not only because I am his stepdad but because my wife and son are from a way different culture.
I was very clueless of what was going on in the world before I met my family. I feel that the average white person sees the cover of the book and assume that they know what is going on for people of a different "Race" without reading the whole book.

Even though the video clip was supposed to represent the family unit, it made me disappointed that Sesame Street added same-sex marriage into the show.  The show has always been about equality for all but there are just certain topics that the world should leave out of children's shows.  Same-sex marriage or relations is not like a relationship between a man and a woman, it is a sexual preference/belief that should be explained to children at an appropriate age.

What the two quotes above are trying to get across is one, the fight for equality is not over yet for African Americans and two, Kenya's kids just like many other African American families are having to look over their shoulder's a lot more than the average American does these days.  It is all because of the segregated class, race, and gender they are associated with.
