Even though different designs speak to us in different ways, designing isn’t as subjective as you might think. Photoshop have been the got to tool for designers for what seems like forever, but it was never intended for this purpose. But that has all changed now.

In the nodes design stack, there are 5 crucial design tools that fuel the design process. These tools have the added benefit of streamlining the design process, and simplifying collaboration between designers.

And on top of that, they save time, and therefore money.

In the blog post ‘5 app design tools - Nodes design stack 2018’ you’ll get a closer look at these design tools, that are used by us today;

Sketch – Complete design tool for static mockups

Abstract – Version control and seamless collaboration on design files

InVision – Prototyping focused on flows

Zeplin – Design handoff for development

Principle – State based prototyping tool for complex interaction

Clearly, this list of tools isn't an end all list. New tools are being developed right now and will undoubtedly address the constantly changing necessities of application originators.

The day may come where one tool rules them all, but until that happens, we have picked the most used, and most supportive, for us. On various occasions, they've empowered us to collaborate on endeavours, and meet due dates that would have been enormously tight, had we not have these tools.

Speed is significant to our clients, and that is the reason why we consistently test and check out new design tools, to deliver cutting-edge quality in app development.

You can start your discovery of new tools in our article: 5 App Design Tools – Nodes Design Stack 2018.

About the author

Nodes is a full-service mobile app development agency with in-house app developers building enterprise apps for market leaders across all sectors with hundreds of app cases.
List of the 9 biggest Beacon manufacturers

The quantity of Beacon producers is expanding quickly. We have assembled a rundown of the 9 greatest beacon makers that you have to consider in the event that you are making a Beacon-based app development project.

Beacons can be used for a multiple of different things, with different prices, battery life time, and the size of companies behind.

Prices vary with 3 to 135 dollars for using their Beacons, of course, each price comes with different advantages.

All the hardware producers are 3rd parties and this is critical to remember. Since Apple as of late reported that manufacturers will require a permit to fabricate guides for iOS products. Apple also has their own Beacon technology called iBeacon.

A Beacon license falls under the MFi Program and this implies guides that have this permit are good with iOS gadgets.

It is with great enthusiasm and interest to see whom will be the main Beacon manufacturer when the dust settles and how the business model will evolve and what impact this will have. Right now we see a lot of different approaches

Another vital component to remember is the MFi program, this could have an immense impact on the cost of Beacons and additionally the number of manufactures.

Some of the manufacturers show promise when it comes to SDK and Data analysis, which could be what separate the leaf from the weeds.

One manufacturer even promises that it only will take you 5 min. to integrate it into your existing app. And another with more than 95% of smartphones on the market.

Yet growth is not without challenges, in this article we will give you insights into what challenges could come and what is already here for the 9 biggest Beacon manufacturers.

What exactly the 9 biggest are focussing on, and who they are, see the List of the 9 biggest Beacon manufacturers here.

About the author

Nodes is a full-service mobile app development agency with in-house app developers building enterprise apps for market leaders across all sectors with hundreds of app cases.
Will Apple remove and ban Xamarin and PhoneGap from the App Store in 2019

it all started with a tweet from @jzeferino containing a screenshot from an email from Apple. In this email, it was announced that Apple will be removing all apps from the App Store that no longer follow current review guidelines or are outdated.

This email also entails that from 2019 new apps created from a software or platform like Xamarin, PhoneGap, Appcelerator, Trillian will be rejected.

In another related tweet from Adam Kemp a software engineer at Apple, this came as a surprise.

We also share 3 reasons why it could be false and 3 reasons could be true.

Why is this something we all need to know more about? We all know that Apple has been contemplating removing apps build with low-quality templates and builders.

Could this be another jap at app developers, developing apps for iPhones to limit our options to build awesome apps?

Apple has already removed thousands of apps for failing their quality scores, so there's been taking a purging place, and is this another step up from Apple in the war against low-quality apps?

So what is true or false in this story? Was it a fake and what do we believe is true?

We explorer and follow the situation closely and in this article, you can read our own perspective, and what our CTO Casper Rasmussen comments on the matter.

Read the article about Will Apple remove and ban Xamarin and PhoneGap from the App Store in 2019 here

About the author

Nodes is a full-service mobile app development agency with in-house app developers building enterprise apps for market leaders across all sectors with hundreds of app cases.
5 steps to becoming GDPR compliant on mobile apps

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is fast closing in and requires businesses to protect individual data and privacy of European residents.

Companies should already be working to ensure that new and existing app projects all comply with the regulation. The app development agency, Nodes, reveal their 5 step plan for compliance.

This article is written by Oliver Wang Hansen and Laus Breyen. Both work as a part of GDPR Taskforce with Denmark's leading app development company Nodes. Nodes have offices and customers across the european union, that are all influenced by the coming regulation.

People of the modern world will regain control over their data. When they provide data to a company and use their right to regain their data or to be forgotten.

This is the overarching goal of the new European general data protection regulation that will be in place across the european union come the 25th of May.

Yesterday's mantra 'The more data, the better' is seriously challenged with the new regulation as companies must be able to document: what data they collect, how they store and share the data - and demonstrate that the consumer provided permission to gather specific data to begin with.

The same goes for companies' applications, programs and software. Not just consumer or citizen-oriented apps, but also software for employees. In general, it applies to all digital platforms that acquire personally identifiable data.

Should one violate the restrictions, the consequences are serious. The fine for a severe data breach could be a costly affair up to 20 mio. EUR or four percent of global revenues.

Furthermore, a company's image is at risk with the risk of losing customers and an impaired capability to conduct business.

The ones that commence to comply now will have the leading advantage| of regulations and could most likely benefit from a competitive advantage in this.

Companies should map their data and gain understanding of what data they acquire and how they monitor it. It is not only a project for the IT division but the matter for the management to participate to prioritise what data points are crucial to develop the relevant and personal customer experience.

To make this process easier for you, we have developed a five-step-method to help companies get their apps compliant.

Read about the 5 steps to becoming GDPR compliant on mobile apps here

About the author

Nodes is a full-service mobile app development agency with in-house app developers building enterprise apps for market leaders across all sectors with hundreds of app cases.
Checklist: How to avoid the 10 most common App Store rejection reasons when submitting your app

Since 2008 we’ve been working with developing apps, this sums up to more than 200 app submissions. That means we’ve seen our fair share of challenges in the App Store approval process.

It’s a process that is surprisingly more complicated than submitting an app to Google Play.

One of the biggest frustrations we face is when a submitted app is rejected in the approval process before going live in the App Store.

The first steps you need to go through is to read the App Store Review Guidelines and follow these, also a good advice would be to take a look at the reasons that Apple describe as the most common app rejection reasons before submitting your app.

But sometimes the guidelines are interpreted differently by different reviewers (some more strict than others) and frequently change over time.

Therefore we have made a list of the top 10 of the most common reasons an app get rejected by the App Store Review Team. These are the most common rejection we and our colleagues in other app development companies, often face.

When you can cross these 10 things off your checklist, you will be a step closer to having your app successfully approved and live in the App Store.

Nodes is a full-service app development agency with in-house app developers building enterprise apps for market leaders across all sectors with hundreds of app cases.
Here comes the super app

The Super App (or 'Meta App') phenomenon allows users to access a range of functions that are normally only available through several standalone native applications.

In this blog post, we examine what exactly a super app is and how it can be seen as a threat or opportunity, and then examine how companies should respond to the trend of super apps.

A super app has a number of functions. Over the last few years we have been following the Chinese super app WeChat for some time: the equivalent of the Swiss Pocket Knife for apps, which combines many functions in a single app.

The advantages for the consumer are obvious: messages can be translated into several languages, it is possible to make phone calls, pictures can be exchanged, paid for a wide variety of services and taxis can be ordered - and all this with just one app.

However, it is not yet quite clear whether there will ever be a super app that dominates the West as WeChat does in China.

In August 2016, The Economist published an article to examine the foundations of WeChat's success in China. It claims that China's unique technological environment has created the conditions for WeChat's escape.

And this despite the fact that Chinese society is characterized by a healthy dose of scepticism and that the Chinese Internet is a hub for cybercrime and malware. Both are challenges for such mega-apps, where huge amounts of data are collected and stored in one place.

However, data accumulation creates enormous advantages for advertisers by providing a comprehensive insight into how users spend money, with whom they interact, what communication is about, when it takes place and why.

However, the question remains whether Western users and legislators will allow a provider to store so much personal data.

A potential candidate for a super app in the West is Facebook Messenger, which was opened to other companies in April last year to offer services via so-called 'bots'.

Read the whole article Here Comes The Super App

About the author

Nodes is a full-service mobile app development agency with in-house app developers building enterprise apps for market leaders across all sectors with hundreds of app cases.
