Skara chooses to not remove the 'city' so you can imagine how life was in Sweden. You can find differences but also similarities. You can even go inside some buildings, that way you have the full experience. The primary school of Skara also organises a day in 3th grade, where the children live a day like back then.
There also are a lot of activities. They really try to kind of keep it alive. For example midsummer is celebrated there and in autumn there is a very popular ghost walk.
You have, among others a church, a postoffice and a farmers house. All from different ages but from the same century.

They originate from a place called Fröslunda on the Kålland peninsula. At the time, bronze was a very valuable material, so why did they throw away 18 bronze shields?

Many theories about what the shields stood for and why they were thrown away. At the museum, they tell us about the different theories through stories about the shields. It is theorized that the shields symbolized the sun, but there are also theories that the patterns on the shields stand for fertility. It is a manuscript in Latin made the year 1150, and it describes the Catholic church service. Skaramissalet is thought to be the oldest book in Sweden. There are two volumes of the book, one found in the Skara library, and one found in the Västragötalands museum.

The rarity of bronze also shows that this region was rich and prosporous, which is an interesting topic, since there is no previous records of riches in the area.
