He is up for a challenge. Nag and Nagaina were so much bigger than him, but he wanted to save his and the others lives, including those of his human family. He knew that Nag was gonna try to kill the family, but he was willing to die for them. He is heroic. He risked his life for the other animals and humans, he didn’t want his family to die. He was there to save the day just like Spiderman or Superman would have been if their city was in danger. He is a protector. He defeated both Nag and Nagaina, the ones they were all scared of. He then stayed in the garden to protect them, willing to do it all over again to save them. Rikki-tikki is overall the best male literary lead because, he is always up for anything, he is a hero, and lastly he is now a protector from his courageous decisions. All the other male literary leads were ok, but Rikki-tikki is the greatest because he is the bravest of them all.

In the book crash there are many dynamic characters like John who learns moral lessons like compassion and true friendship as well as staying true to his opinions and beliefs. Dynamic characters like John Coogan and Penn Webb make a novel truly unique and entertaining, especially the novel Crash which has more changes than other novels. Near the rising action of the novel Crash, John takes a stand against Mike Deluca who targets Penn in his bullying scheme by defending and protecting his newfound friend. This shows that the novel Crash involves serious decisions and and promotes staying true to your own ideas, beliefs, and morals, making it a must read story from beginning to end. In the climax Crash lets Pen win the race for the remaining spot on the schools relay team telling Pen to lean and take the win. This shows a unique climax that stimulates the reader more than any other novel and shows important morals like compassion, and being selfless. Based on the evidence, Crash is clearly the most deserving nominee for best novel. The book promotes important morals like being true to your own beliefs, and the value of friendship as well as introduces many exciting dynamic characters. This makes Crash much more exciting than other novels like The Giver and The Outsiders. She tells the greasers that the only things separating them and the Socs are that the greasers are more emotional, the Socs have more money, and they both have a different set of values. Cherry is a Soc, but she takes the risk of talking to greasers, and trying to make them be friends. She explains to Ponyboy that things are rough all over and that everyone sees the sunset. Cherry tells Ponyboy that everyone has their problems not just him. This is a very powerful message that she tells Ponyboy. Along with that, Cherry also tells Pony that the Socs can see the sunset too. She attempts to stop the feud between the greasers and the Socs, and ends up easing it. Throughout the whole book Cherry tries to stop the feud and she makes their bonds stronger while doing it. She tries to do what’s right and make the greasers and Socs friends. That is a hard thing to do, but she is willing to fight and take the risk. Jack Will from the book Wonder is the best nominee for Male Literary Citizen because has a sense of humor, knows when to keep his mouth shut, and can pull through hard tasks with ease.

“For some reason, me and Jack started cracking up.

‘That guy made the funniest face!’ said Jack as we sat down at our desks.

‘I know, right?’ I said. ‘He was like, whoa!’

‘I swear, I think he wet his pants!’”

Auggie had accidentally scared an eighth grader who past by on the stairs, but for Jack Will, instead of being embarrassed to be seen with deformed Auggie, was laughing his head off. Jack thought it was awesome rather than horrifying.

“‘I can’t imagine looking in the mirror every day and seeing myself like that… ‘Then why do you hang out with him so much?’ asked Darth Sidious… ‘Tushman asked me to hang out with him at the beginning of the year, and he must have told all the teachers to put us next to each other in all our classes, or something.’”

Jack Will had been hanging out with Auggie all year long, but he hadn’t said a word until Julian asked him why he did it. Jack said Mr. Tushman had him do it, so that Auggie would have a friend. Jack kept quiet to Auggie, so that he wouldn’t hurt him.

¨But I stood where I was and listened to Jack Will finish what he was saying. ‘I mean, the thing is: he always follows me around. What am I supposed to do?’¨

Jack is talking about how Auggie follows him around, and how he is Auggie’s only friend. Jack has begun to care about him, and through it all, Jack has never complained about having to be friends with a deformed kid.

Jack Will is the best MLC nominee because of said traits shown above. Even though he doesn’t live in southern slums, or in a bleak future, he has great amounts of compassion, perseverance, and self-preservation. In other words, he can keep his mouth shut, accomplish hard tasks out of the blue, and has shown care, even when he was just supposed to show Auggie around.

He faces some challenges in life he didn’t think he would ever face but he comes out unscathed and a better person. Second of all, Wonder shows daily struggles that we all have. In Wonder Auggie struggles with his peers, teachers, and family members.He shows everyone that he is stronger than they ever thought he was. This is something we all wish to do in our daily life. Third, Wonder has some very interesting viewpoints that you wouldn’t think the story affects.Wonder shows some great view points. It shows viewpoints from not only Auggie but from Jack Will, Summer, Miranda, Olivia and even Olivia’s boyfriend. It helps us understand how Auggie's facial disorder affects the people around him. It also helps us understand that sometimes it isn’t always about us and that the things we do affect other people. In conclusion, you should vote for Wonder. I recognize that there are other books in my category but let me tell you why Wonder is the best. Wonder is a story that will be remembered for generations and generations to come. One thing that makes the story really stand out, is that the main character is not the narrator. The narrator being a side character gives the reader a unique view of the story that is not common in other books. According to an interview with S.E. Hinton, “I wanted something realistic about teenagers … I wanted to write something I saw kids really doing.” S.E. Hinton succeeded in what she was trying to do, because it is full of how kids act, and that leads to a unique connected feeling that the reader receives. Most importantly, The Outsiders is full of real conflicts from the time period the book is based on. As time goes on, the conflicts stay the same, just different names for the groups that don’t get along. Reading this book allows the reader to realize that he is not alone, and other people have the same problems that they have. In conclusion, The Outsiders is the best novel nominee for a Bahny Award because, the narrator is not the main character, it is a realistic fiction that relates to teenagers, and it is full of real conflicts. In addition, in The Giver the people in the society don’t really feel happiness because they have never felt the true pain of sadness. Since they have never felt the true pain of sadness they won’t truly no the real feeling of happiness. This goes to show that if you don’t have that feeling of loss and sadness the feeling of happiness will not be a strong because you would have nothing to compare the feeling to. Finally, it goes to show that if you don’t have your own strong and real emotions you will not be an individual. It goes to show that that of you don’t have your own emotion and you feel what people tell you to feel you will not be individual. Also, you will not have your own choices because you don’t know something so simple as to what you are feeling. The giver is most definitely the best novel because it shows what life without emotion is and that we should enjoy every emotion there is. The Giver is better than the other novels because the book shows what life would be like without emotion. The outsiders is just simply a story with no strong connection about your life. Wonder is just about that different should be embraced which The Giver shows to. Crash is mostly about being rivals but we all know that your enemy is also your closest friend. In the end, The Giver truly shows that if you want to be the best, just be yourself and embrace your individuality.
