An energy tower is a designed device for generating electricity.  This installation combines solar and wind energy.</p><p>The most famous sources of renewable energy are solar energy, hydropower and plant combustion.  Another source is the Energy Pipe technology.  One of its developers is Dan Zaslavsky, a professor at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering at the Technion.</p><p>The advantage of this tower: </p><p>There is no need for expensive receivers.  The cost of energy production is the lowest of all existing today.</p><p>There are about 40 territories in the world that have suitable climatic and geographical conditions for the use of energy towers.</p><p> It is possible to generate renewable energy 24 hours a day without the need for sunlight. Also, the tower cannot influence global processes.  This is very good for the environment. In our time, when energy needs are constantly growing, we need to find new ways and solutions to obtain and store energy.
Energy storage tower is an idea company in Switzerland. This idea is similar to pumped storage, except that it can be done without water. The tower has a large crane in the center and many concrete blocks. Then, when energy is required, kinetic the energy from lowering the blocks is converted into electrical energy. It could sounds like a strange idea, but it is as efficient as a lithium-ion battery and is safe and cheap storage solution.
So why are energy storage towers a good solution? First, they smooth out the peaks and troughs in energy production from renewable sources such as solar and wind, which contributes to grid stability. Secondly, they provide backup power in case of emergencies or network failures. Finally, they help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by allowing for more efficient use of renewable energy sources.
