This assignment I believe will be hard but rewarding work as the topic I possibly will select is one I feel very passionate about. Sturt Lacrosse Club is who I currently play lacrosse for would benefit greatly out of a promotional video. Lacrosse is an American sport which is not commonly known in Australia. The awareness this video could attract to the sport could benefit not just my club but others.

I am passionate about promoting sport to kids as I believe it can be very powerful having a sense of accomplishment, as well as for development and fitness reasons. As a coach I see how positively sport impacts these girls every day, through making friends and having a good time. This is a theme I would like my video to promote.

A movement with similar morals to mine is the current government campaign 'Girls Make Your Move'. This campaign is all about empowering school age girls to join sports and remove negative stigma around body shape, ability and gender or race inequality. Though the girls make your move campaign doesn't feature lacrosse, I am sure they would be happy to promote a video made about sport which features females.
https://campaigns.health.gov.au/girlsmove

I have made previous videos but none directly promoting a business or event. This idea is relatively new to me, yet exciting to attempt. I hope my final product does the sport or business I choose justice.

An example of this is the emotions which playing sport can have on person. I think the happiness and competitive nature of sport has is what can attract children to it. I would like to display the fast passed nature lacrosse also has. Lacrosse also has some intricate equipment associated with it which also be good to feature.

The mind map also made me think about the colours other lacrosse teams use, which impact the sport and emotions being portrayed. The assignment could even be used for lacrosse South Australia/ or even Australia.

After selecting the topic of lacrosse involvement through the use of my Lacrosse Club, I searched for other lacrosse promotional videos. The ones I found were Warrior and Maverick. Both these videos are intense, show passion and have a heart beat or breathing sound mixed with a simple toned music.
I think I need to source an unlicensed song as this video will be published on social media. I want the music to be upbeat yet simple preferably getting faster in pace to allude to an intense shot on goal.

https://incompetech.com/

http://www.bensound.com/

http://www.epidemicsound.com/?_us=adwords&_usx=brand&gclid=CjwKCAjw2s_MBRA5EiwAmWIac0-W9q49Z7fHnpal2BJ7u3R112D9zHleB6v1WjrQSx3vlJZBTb0oqhoCLrUQAvD_BwE

http://freemusicarchive.org/

I would also like to record or source a series of sounds which I believe will benefit the video by adding to intensity.

This first advertisement I came across is the Maverik Lacrosse 'The decision is yours' 2013 campaign. This campaign focuses on challenging yourself and that practice pays off in the long run. The video incorporates a lot of darkness and spotlighting on lacrosse gear and actions. Though I like the impression it gives to younger audience about practice is key, the dark colouring doesn't include the uplifting feeling I want for my video.

NOTE: Maverick Lacrosse is a Lacrosse equipment manufacturer based in New York.
http://maveriklacrosse.com/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pD_buVzRFg8

The Warrior 'What's your Super Power' campaign features a guy running in the cold on a field to shoot a goal. The guy switches from training to game like instances whilst still going a similar movement in the same location. The background music increases pace and so does the videos flicker between the gym, the guy training and a game. The climax of the video is the shot and segments of him running which labels the gear his wearing. The video is a similar style to how I want mine to look, flickering between different people and the ending of the video being a final shot. The video also includes the gear the player is wearing, labeling it as he's running, the selling point for the video.

NOTE: Warrior is a Lacrosse (and other sports) equipment brand based in the US.

https://www.warrior.com/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnH7ekkhfRo

The video will start with lacrosse shoes running across grass in slow motion and close up. Whilst the person is running it will switch to other people running the same path as well, switching through an age bracket between 8 and 15 both male and female. The camera slowly pans up and away from the player showing their ultimate goal. The player (switching from person to person) will be running to goals in a fast nature, while the dodges they do will be in slow motion and speed up the pace when running again. The final moment will be the ball (slow motion and close up) hitting the back of the net and the players cheering (visual through the net), when the tag line in both spoken and written form will appear on screen, featuring the logo. The sounds for this video will be a song which starts slow and increases in pace over the duration of the video. I would also like to include a heart beat or heavy (puffed) breathing sound to increase intensity.

The Colours I have selected for this assignment are the ones used throughout the Logo of the Sturt Lacrosse Club. I got the exact colour and Font information from the Sturt Lacrosse Club Style Guide. The 4 colours they specified are the navy, blue, black and white shade. The grey I have selected as another colour which I feel highlights the blue without over powering it. The colour will be used sparingly and is approved by the Sturt Lacrosse Club.
As for the Fonts the Sturt Lacrosse Club use Rockwell Extra Bold (slightly stretched, specifications in the Style Guide) as their heading font. This is the same font I will use for my Headings 1. For the body text and other headings I will be using variations of the Avenir Next Font. Sturt Lacrosse Club did not specify a body text but I selected something simple, curved and easy to read. The font is similar to the one Lacrosse SA uses, relating back to their governing body.
I also went to the SLC website to see what colours they have used. They have also incorporated grey which I wish to as well. http://sturtlacrosse.org.au/base/

Australian Lacrosse Association (ALA)
The Australian Lacrosse Association is the over aching governing body which decided on game rules, exposure and the Australian teams (aspacs). The fonts used in the ALA Logo are a bold, serif and curved style which make the logo seem timeless. The colours the ALA use are green and gold (the Australian sporting colours). Their logo is a combination of the Southern Cross, a lacrosse stick shape and an Australian outline. Their logo is very distinguishable as Australian through the colours and Australian reference. Their website follows the same colour scheme as the one their logo does, making everything match.
http://lacrosse.com.au/

Lacrosse SA
"Lacrosse! Play it, live it, love it!"
Lacrosse SA is the governing/ supporting body to all the South Australian Clubs. Lacrosse SA has a captivating slogan which encourages the love of the sport as well as participation. The lacrosse SA colours are bright and captivating being a bright red (Pantone 295), navy (Pantone 199), and yellow (Pantone 137). The Lacrosse SA colours are the South Australian colours set by the government, making everything uniformed. (http://www.sa.gov.au/topics/about-sa/about-sa) The Lacrosse SA font is simple, san serif, clear and curved. The Australian Lacrosse standards, rules and guidelines are derived from the USL as the sport is most developed and began in the USA. The USL has a very modern logo using the Navy and Blue (American Flag colours). The logo is a Lacrosse stick head with a ball going towards it. The USL logo uses a sleek, curved san serif font similar to the Words font Impact. The USL has no noticeable slogan.
https://www.uslacrosse.org/

This US Lacrosse video features kids being educated to play lacrosse in a slower motion, making the video calm and entertaining. The video is coloured brightly with most kids in the video wearing a USL top and the logo placed stationary in the bottom right corner. The logo being placed in the corner I perceive as professional and makes the logo recognisable, something I wish to include in my video. The soothing voice over from both females and males explains how anyone can play lacrosse and how they wish to offer opportunities for anyone willing to join. Their welcoming morals is another attribute I hope the SLC video will have.

The Audience I would like this video to target is the kids looking for a fun time and be physically active. The age bracket for this is around 7 (almost the youngest Lacrosse accepts into the sport) to 15. Junior players are important to Sturt Lacrosse Club as they impact our National League teams in multiple ways. As the Australian Lacrosse Association (ALA) states in their By Laws, Clubs without junior teams will have points deducted from clubs who do not have junior teams. Junior players also grow up and hopefully will play in our League teams one day. It is also extremely beneficial for kids playing sport and learning sportsmanship in their junior years. I do not want this video to appeal to more than one gender, so I will be trying to keep the video as equal as possible.
The ALA also aims to gain exposure to the sport through Juniors as stated in their 'Strategy for acrosse in Australian 2015- 2018' guide.
http://lacrosse.com.au/media/146469/strategy-for-lacrosse-in-australia-2015-2018.pdf
