Write down your discussion results here

Headscarves (Ethical Imperative + Demographic Imperative) - John, Dunk, and Suthee

The conflict in morals and values comes from German schools banning hijabs as they want to assimilate ethnic and religious minorities into German culture. Added to the fact that the Berlin court ruled that it was constitutional for schools to ban it. Obviously, from the Muslim side, it's unethical to stop them from practicing their religion, however, it isn't necessarily illegal. Although there are many different points you can bring into assimilation and how much to an extent should someone conform to their new host country? So the main imperative would be on the ethical imperative and to what extent can Germany decide on when enforcing their culture.

:

Write down your discussion results here:

Demonstration (Peace Imperative + Ethical Imperative) - John, Dunk, and Suthee

The conflict between two groups (demonstrations lead to peace or to further disruptions) is the main debate for this case study because it can be taken from two very different standpoints. Firstly in terms of peace, it can be argued that demonstrations can ultimately lead to peace while others say it only leads to more chaos and disruption. While in terms of ethics it can also be argued that demonstrations can be peaceful and legal while in other situations can be dangerous and unlawful. Demonstrations can vary in nature and can often be attributed to both the peace imperative and the ethical imperative based on how someone perceives the values of a demonstration.

It allows for a mixing pot to occur as many different ethnicities and demographics will be involved in this situation. This situation also allows for open-mind learning to occur as people with negative thoughts on Muslims and the Quran have a chance to learn more about a religion they may be against.

:
