         <description><![CDATA[<div>What I Know:&nbsp;<br>-sailed across the ocean a total of four times, in 1492, 1493, 1498, 1502<br>-Goal was to find a sea route to india to trade spices.&nbsp;<br>-Stumbled upon the "Americas." He actually found the Islands of Cuba and dominica, and the top of south america.&nbsp;<br>What we learned:<br>-Was likely not the first European to set out across the Atlantic.<br>-Three different countries refused to back his voyage<br>-He is not celebrated across Italy, just in his home town of Genoa.&nbsp;<br>What I want to know more about:&nbsp;<br>-Who were the first europeans to cross the Atlantic?</div>]]></description>
