-Goal was to find a sea route to india to trade spices. 
-Stumbled upon the "Americas." He actually found the Islands of Cuba and dominica, and the top of south america. 
What we learned:
-Was likely not the first European to set out across the Atlantic.
-Three different countries refused to back his voyage
-He is not celebrated across Italy, just in his home town of Genoa.
