I learned from reading "Between the World and me" that identity can affect your schooling experience. As a black male living in a poor area he was already set up for failure.
Secondly, from this course I learned that there are 3 goals of education from Labaree's writing's. Democratic Equality, Social Efficiency, and Social mobility can be the goal set for schools. I also learned that their can be more than 1 goal at a time.
Thirdly I learned that Popular culture is everywhere. It's our culture, it's art, and it even in ethnic groups and areas. It's everything that we talk about and it's in every store we visit. Pop culture is not dead. (The Ted Talk)
